We saw the Grammy award winning Steeldrivers last night. Good solid, not ever annoying bluegrass and song. One tune "Whiskey, Guitars, Guns and Knives" was introduced as alternately known in East Kentucky as " My Favorite Things" . Lol. All around those musicians had great talent and lots of. soul.

That whole show is top shelf. Cold Rain and Snow sets the place on fire. Evidently it was snowing and cold that day in April. I like the traditional whistle blow before Truckin and the Other One is so fantastic you hardly miss the other verse. Ad lib in Saint " May be crazy, may be outta line now. I’m on the road and I’m feelin’ fine now.” But Brent and Jerry with the thundering bass in Shakedown just knock it out of there !! It might be my fav Shakedown.

Closing of winterland. I remeber as a youth reading a bootleg. Venue was wi terland, it read to my youthful ears of a magical place where heads jammed to the dead. Decades later, I still see and here the same magic when I put these shows on!!

Anyone suggest a kick ass viola they like?

4-3-90 from spring 90 box. I love this show!! Jerry sounds fresh and energetic. It's the last show of the tour and he's letting it all hang out. I never listen to 90s dead so this box set is like new music to my ears. Very spacial recording with crowd mics adds that big hall sound. Very psychedelic. Energetic singing and harmonizing. The boys are on fire!! Give this show a listen if you can find a good copy. The Scarlett> crazy fingers is stellar in the 2nd set but really Jerry sounds great throughout.

10/2/72 > Springfield

It's all gravy but this ending passage is solid gold:

Truckin'-> Nobody's Fault But Mine-> Drums-> Uncle John's Band Jam-> Morning Dew, Sugar Magnolia, E:Uncle John's Band-> E: Johnny B. Goode

Some debate the UJB jam - sounds a little more like a Feelin Groovy Jam to me. Whatever you want to name it, its placement is excellent

11.24/78 capital theatre, official video, jerry has laryngitis, barely making it through Fire, appreciation factor of what touring musicians give of their life energy is reinforced, thanks and thanks to the crew who keep everything up and running...you gave all you had, why you want to give more?

In the spirit of the death of tower records from several factors but mainly free pirated music, here is a link to watch the documentary of its fall for free. Note there will likely be a popup. Just close it and it should start up.

Good doc told by all the main players in the company.
