It was a barnburner. Eaton explained the change of venue reasons was due to a mote around the stage. Said that Edwin McCain lent them his stagetime so that they would have a venue. Kudos to Edwin without him this show would not have happened. Also stated that they were going to do something different tonight. Definitely a Jerry show. High energy all around. Everyone was on fire! Being that this one set show was broken into two sets there were long spacy jams and rockin riffs everywhere the whole night long.Barraco did a fine job giving us a fine Pigpen wrap of how us guys need to take our hands outa our pockets and take make some kinda effort so we dont go home alone tonight! Definitely a Chuckesque kinda show. Sorry you missed this one but i represented and got nice and swetty for ya Hug before the show! Gotta give a shout out to the fine ladies i met this evening dancing up on the VIP deck: . Lots of FUN Have a feeling we might get another one like it in the ledges. Any questions. I am definitely leaving out a lot. But i gotta hit the air matress.

Filler with Lisa was a short yet sweet Golden Road (To Unlimited Devotion)

Peace Love and safe travels,

WTF? Can someone provide me some historical precedent here? Wouldve loved to be in the house last night.... Nice work all.

Is this the first time in the 60's for DSO?

I was just listening to some Feb 2010 and Rob is all over Pigpen. I was blown away. I have heard him do alligator at an elective and I don't remember him sounding so much like Pigpen. Can't wait to hear more.

I have to give major props to the whole DSO organization from top to bottom, with an acknowlegment (most already know this) that they put the fans first. In Des Moines on Friday, to say they made Lemonade out of potential lemon situation is an understatement..

It was bad enough that at the last minute the venue had to be changed from the beautiful Simon Estes on the riverfront to a different locale (Peoples). because of high water....But they were to take the stage after the already scheduled Edwin McCain concert.

Given that dynamic...relatively late start, and other potential logistical issues, it was logical to assume we might be looking at a 1 set original set list......Nope ..instead the play the first 60's show in the History of Dark Star Orchestra...the fans were absolutely jacked up...Not only that..they took a set break which given the logistics did not think possible..

I dont know if this show was on the schedule prior to the venue change, but even if it was the way it was pulled off given the logistics...was the definition of a Pro Outfit..My friend from Des Moines...who knows his shit and not easily swayed...Could not say enough about the Band..

Keep on Truckin.....Muddy..

If the 60's show will be a precedent that will be repeated, GFEST could be even more of a Psychedelic blowout than was already going to be the case. Either way, Worlds are going to be ROCKED! I can't wait for the Beautiful fallout..........

I'm thinking about marking you down for not being there...but it is for a worthy cause, I know. Congrats on your parents!

I found out about this, of all places, on the Philzone! I think most people assumed this could be in the cards after those '72 shows. I guess it's just a matter of time before they pull out the acoustic Duprees>Mountains>electric Dstars! I'm assuming Barraco is mastering the harp as I write.

And if this is one of Matt's predictions then I will go on record as saying you all will NOT get a 60's show at the Ledges this year.

It's kind of like that Constanza thing with his predictions I've found. :)

There is a crisp recording of this up on the Archive. Listened last night while doing bills. Never been so happy paying bills. The whole band did an exceptional job capturing that 60's sound. I was blown away listening to a modern interpretation of a concert that happened 41 years ago. Can't wait to experience my first 60's show!!!
