Dso soundchecked uncle johns. Good lovin. Scarlet. Bertha. Believe it was in that order. Sounded pretty wavy thru cell phone feed. Looks like the tour started off really nice. Want to hear a stu review. Peace and safe travels

I am itchin for a review from a 'participant'.....................

Same here. I have requested from actual attendees, and I am sure they will respond here in all good time. The preliminary texted reviews have been good.

Bix - if you have the HD audiophile cell phone, let me know make and model...

So let me get this right ! WE have a new lead guitar player and the best we can get is they all gelled and band on fire ? Jordan you know I love you and A for EFFORT ! Come on now ! I think there is a fucking thread on DSO's site asking which is Johnny's best lead with further ! I know they are in RADO and those freaks got WAY too much going down to give us a review , but man ! I don't get it ! I think THEY are still talking about the Denver further show somewhere around here ! Johnny knows I love him , but this is about US ! Where is the BEEF ? Hope your having F U N all !

A :) :) :)

I'll give ya my review; Welcome back Dark Star Orchestra! And a big HELLO to STU! Great venue, only half full, but thats ok for us that had all the room we needed. Sure there was a slight uneasy feeling for me when they stepped out on stage, its only natural. I've only seen one other lead guitarist with this band. Well it didn't take long to let that feeling dissolve! The band is awesome. its gonna be fun to see the difference between Stu's 2nd show last nite and where they'll be at the end of this run, Sure he seemed a little tentative, who wouldn't, it was his second show with this band. And what a band! Kevin, killer stuff on the bass. Eaton, smokin work at his home venue, Barraco as always great on the keys, Lisa, love it when her mike is on stage, you know its gonna be good. Dino and Rob churning this band along. A few minor missteps with Stu and his pedals but it doesn't really matter. he's a monster. Its like the band was just ready to explode at any moment, and they did quite often. Lazy Lighting/Supp, Eyes, Scarlet/Fire, Sugar, all just absolutely smokin! Enjoy it people, its only gonna get better and its already great!

Nice, thanks J.C....great positive take on what I am sensing is going to be an incredible new wave of energy coming West...I love John also but I am excited to hear this new incarnation...like you, I love when Lisa's on stage as well, my first DSO show was with Lisa and I just love the energy, vocals & dancing she brings to the experience~

Some thoughts on the three Colorado shows....

Stu was a little apprehensive at first, but by the third show he had become much more assertive. All three shows had great energy, and the band was very tight. Stu has brought a different type of sound and feel to the band, obviously, and it is mostly all good. I think his guitar sounds great during his solos, but could be turned up louder at all other times. He could definitely use more sound effects, as every Dead tune requires a slightly different sound from the lead guitar. I really believe he is capable of bringing the kind of complexity and nuances that DSO fans have grown accustomed to from the lead role. I won't deny the fact that I miss John--a lot--but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate what Stu can bring to this band. I am looking forward to hearing him as he becomes more and more comfortable playing with them...

He's got a lot to give and I feel like he's holding back--bring it, Stu, bring it on!

Note about the Aspen and Beaver Creek shows--very cool to see all the band join in on percussion! Awesome.

Keys sounded phenomenal last night (Boulder).

Kevin, the chicks were diggin on the fact that you let your hair down last night...

I have seen many personnel changes in DSO over the years, and I think with the departure of John, this could be an exciting opportunity to make a significant change in the type of shows DSO performs. In other words, lets hear some early Dead!!!
