neutrino
The Dave Rawlings Machine will be there. Dave is the longtime partner of Gillian Welch, and is a phenomenal guitar player. Gillian is also part of the D.R. machine--along with 3 members of the Old Crow Medicine Show. I actually saw them at the Fillmore in San Francisco just last night, and they were absolutely amazing!!! There were also a number of guests who showed up, included the keyboard player from Tom Petty who played most of the night. They played a few songs last night that we all know : Peggy-O, Monkey and the Engineer, and Queen Jane Approximately. I heard they also do a great version of Candyman, but not last night. Dave and Gillian did a duet of Neil Young's "Cortez the Killer" that was truly jawdropping! Dave and Gillian are an absolute national treasure, and anyone who has a chance to see them play and gives it a pass is making a HUGE mistake!! Forum MVP FunkyBass13 Posted February 11, 2010 Forum MVP Report Share Posted February 11, 2010 IMO, this is the weakest initial line-up of any of the Bonnaroos thus far. Granted, they don't say who the headliners are going to be this far out, but that line-up isn't worth the outrageous ticket prices. At most, I'm looking at seven artists on that list that I MIGHT be interested in seeing.

That alone would be worth the price of admission. And I just recently have been told good things about Old Crow by a reliable source, so this is now on my radar screen. Thanks! And I just recently have been told good things about Old Crow by a reliable source, so this is now on my radar screen. Thanks! Hey Chuck, Indeed Cortez was alone worth the price of admission--as was just about every other song!! Here's a Youtube performance of it. This one is very good, but the Fillmore performance took it up to another level. Absolutely hair-raising. I also found out that another one of the guests at the Fillmore (in addition to the previously mentioned Bob Tench from Tom Petty) was Peter Rowan from Old and in the Way. What an amazing night. If you have a chance to see them (either as the Dave Rawling Machine or as Gillian Welch--you always get them both), don't miss it!!
Forum MVP chuckvegas Posted February 11, 2010 Forum MVP Report Share Posted February 11, 2010 Neutrino - talk about synchronicity! My reliable source just sent me a Youtube of Old Crow's Wagon Wheel, which am really looking forward to checking out. It may have to wait until I get home, since they aren't too big on me spinning around my office while on the client. Something about scaring the staff...so much music, so little time.
