I can't help about the shape I'm in

I can't sing, I ain't pretty and my legs are thin

But don't ask me what I think of you

I might not give the answer that you want me to

Oh well

Now, when I talked to God I knew he'd understand

He said, "Stick by me and I'll be your guiding hand

But don't ask me what I think of you

I might not give the answer that you want me to"

Oh well

Teachermatt must have deleted his own recent post.

It was fiery!

I've done that plenty of times ... posted or replied to a post while thinking " how profound " ... went and had a cup of coffee , came back to the board , re-read my post and couldn't delete it fast enough hoping no one read it  ... I just chalk it up to a temporary lapse of reasoning and move on  ...

Wow!

These 10 pages was quite the read! Phew!

Someone asked me recently what the most recent book I have read, and I had to really think as it has been a looong time. It's not that I do not read, I mean, it took me over a freaking hour to read through these pages, not that I am complaining (after all, no one made me, I read it with great interest and found it a kind of, how you say, page turner?)

How bout those Yankees! Go Red Sox!

How bout those darn Republicans? Can you believe those Democrats?

Geez people, you would think this has Global Warming consequences written all over it!

Pick your flavor, if you must, (Hahaha, who am I kidding, many of you already have!) it is just musicians playing what we all feel is really good music. So the bands have changed names, changed up some players. Everyone continues to play most excellent music which we all love in common.

By the way, this was really a fun read, and kept my interest for the better part of an hour now.

DSO, I pray you will continue to play and entertain us for many more years. I never saw this band as a competition, not then, not now. More like a compliment to the greatness of the Grateful Dead and it's music. Sure, Bobby and Phil are more popular, they are 2 of the originals. They should at least get respect for that if nothing else. Keep playing folks, I for one will continue to be a paying patron. Just don't play opposite the other band on the same night and coast (currently Furthur) as I hate having to choose!

You go John, continue to play excellent music, no matter who you play with or what the band calls itself. Over the years I have personally heard how excellent it would be to have you exactly in the spot you are in right now. It is good to see and hear. Many are very excited and are looking forward to seeing you go furthur. I pray you will be around for many, many years to continue to entertain us with you terrific talent!

Thank you DSO!

Thank you John!

Thank you Furthur!

(did I put that in the right order...yeah...I did...this IS a DSO board, right?)

Doc I'm torn on the issue. I saw one show and have listened to most of the shows mainly to support John. I am "guilty" of posting about my likes and dislikes here concerning Furthur. Let's say the other bands section is disolved. What then? Are we only permitted to talk about DSO? I have been a poster here since these forms were formed. We have always talked freely about what was on our plates at any given moment. This community is greater than any one band. I enjoy DSO shows far better than Furthur. I just flew to Asheville and back for one show. I went to Bayfront only because it was in my backyard and to hopefully hear some incredible music. I was not dissapointed in Asheville. Miami is a different story. But I'm happy as he'll they still tour and give all they got to the best fan base ever. Maybe the other boards should have an other band sec. Unfortunately one mention of DSO or Eaton brings hateful insecure hate speach to allow for any thoughtful constructive diolouge. Let's continue to live by example here. Yeah the link to this forum is on DSO's website but I am not sure it is actually their forum. I don't know. If it is the fans forum then maybe a vote should be taken. But if TR who I think is the CFO then maybe it is his call. I would vote to remove it but will not sensor my feelings or topics to appease individuals sensitivity to matters greater than themselves.

It is a tough issue....

But,

If the posts have NOTHING whatsoever to do with DSO or the history/culture of the Grateful Dead, like posting setlists or looking for tickets,

And,

If DeadheadMike is correct (I'm sure he is if he posted it) that some of our tech problems on the Forums are related to the huge volume of traffic related to "Other Bands" (which is mostly about Furthur),

And,

This is a site devoted to DSO, and for whatever reason(s) Furthur does not have their own site(s) for which to post strictly Furthur related content, co-opting other sites like the DSO Forums into becoming defacto Furthur sites,

And,

If there is even a slight possibility that part of the game plan in getting JK to join Furthur was to hurt DSO (as some have alluded to on these Forums, that does seem far fetched and I hope is not accurate),

Then,

Maybe there is an argument for not having that stuff around here. Furthur discussion does have a place here as all GD related discussion does. But somehow it should relate back to a bigger picture that DSO shares in. Like the Jackie Greene thread it can relate to something bigger and very much related to the music and interests that we all share, but when strictly about Furthur it seems out of place. Especially when at times it starts to dwarf all the other posts on the Forums that are related to DSO.

No right or wrong answers. I think that the creation of the "Other Bands" area was a good idea. I think that there should be an Internet Forum for Furthur, and that would take care of some of these issues.

Why are most people being so trivial about this. I enjoyed the Furthur shows (Broomfield, CO) last weekend immensely. People complain when there is a Furthur thread, + when there is not one. If I remember correctly; I'm thinking at this point that they both feed off of each other. That being said I am very much looking forward to some Rob Eaton shows this month, + then off course DSO in early April. Remember...."Believe it if you need it, or leave it if you dare". Everyone enjoy the start of daylight savings time, + spring is looming on the horizon.
