Forum MVP gr8fulpair Posted January 7, 2010 Forum MVP Report Share Posted January 7, 2010 San Francisco Regency Ballroom, April 23+24 The Regency is a very beautiful and comfortable venue. I saw the Neville Brothers there fairly recently and it was perfect. That is GRATE news! My 20th anniversary is 4/21 and although we've been all around it, my wife and I have never been to SF. I was praying there might be some shows there that week. Was that ticket site offering tix for sale? Be nice to be holdin' before booking flights and hotel. Any hotel recommendations? Thanks for the heads up and for making my day!
Forum MVP chuckvegas Posted January 7, 2010 Forum MVP Report Share Posted January 7, 2010 Maybe a little bit of a tiny shakeup on the April dates and venues, plus a few variations from the usual schedule...?

Guest Lisacat
is that growth or reduction? well both- normally they play the great american on a Mon-Wed in April- which holds about 600, but this is on a weekend- they play the weekend at the Fillmore in Oct...that holds over 1200 I would expect sardine can....unless there is something else going on in the bay area that would draw people away.... Guest deadheadmike
Welcome to The Regency Ballroom. This stunning room features blonde hardwood floors, a horseshoe-shaped balcony and a built-in stage. Noted as a fine example of Scottish Rite architecture, which includes neoclassic and beaux arts styles, the Regency Building was built in 1909. The Grand Ballroom is a beaux-art treasure with thirty-five foot ceilings and twenty-two turn-of-the-century teardrop chandeliers. Guest deadheadmike
April 23+24 are a Friday and Saturday which is really good because the time difference from east to west makes the Friday travel pretty easy on the schedule ... an 8am flight puts me in SF at noon , a noon flight puts me in SF around 4pm ... now , do I fly back east on Sunday or do I get to see another tasty DSO show somewhere in the Bay area and fly home on Mon ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? and then there is SoCal ... b and a
The regency is the room above the Avalon Ballroom , its a nice room , ive been there for a sold out show and there was plenty of room . There are no seats in the back of the balcony where there is plenty of room to dance --the floor had room as well. They dont over sell it like the fillmore seems to do sometimes . Harlem Globetrotters are at the Cow Palace that weekend. Priceline a hotel room top star level and you should get a great room for around $70 that has been the norm for april

A Sunday show would just complete the weekend very nicely , Petaluma or Santa Cruz would work ... I love the Bay Area , been there many times ... If the moons are aligned in April and I make it out for the weekend and you'll know I'm coming out West cause I'll be positing like a madman , we'll hang !!!
