In addition to the setlist above, the first two songs were Promised Land and Sugaree. Also, the encores were Mr. Charlie and Ripple.

This was my first DSO show and I absolutely loved it!!! The acoustics in this 1898 theatre were outstanding and the band took advantage of it. For me the show was one highlight after another ... my personal faves were Black Throated Wind, Cumberland, Bird Song, BIODTL, Playing and the 2nd set closing He's Gone>NFA>GDTRFB>NFA.

and another one where deadbase was incomplete
Given the current asking price for the last DeadBase, I can't see why it wouldn't make financial sense to update it and print another final version. Could even include an up to date section for post-Dead original member projects. I'm in for fifty bucks in a heartbeat!

Perhaps the original threesome have irreconcilable issues? Ooohhhh, there's the start of a vicious rumor. :P

I am normally really possitive. In fact, of the many DSO shows I've seen I never felt the need to post a negative review. I normally rave about the boys!

That was the worst DSO show I have ever seen. The setlist was not my personal favorite, I could use a lot less cowboy. That siad, I found the second sets performnace to be uninspired and boring. I found it hard to believe the band I saw last night is the premier Grateful Dead act touring today. I really enjoyed the time spent with friends and the good atmoshphere, but the music pissed me off in more than a few ways.

If you enjoyed the show just ignore me, my perception is my reaility, your reality is your perception. ;-)

Sometimes those 72' setlists don't flow real well.

Yeah I get that. 121 DSO shows, 6 of which were from the fall '72 era, and I've never been blown away them. I think it's just the era, in that the song choices and even play style are not what some and maybe a lot of people really get off on. That being said, though, last night I thought Dino was a MASTER at jazzy drum fills (if fills is even the right word, I don't know terminology lol) especially during the Bird Song. Naturally Truckin, the NFA sandwich, and Playin were the highlights, with Playin taking me WAY out there. But I had room to go even Furthur; I was game :) Acoustics I found to be different than the previous two gigs at the venue, and again, maybe that's attributed to the instrumentation of the era. I think this one gets 4 out of 5 stars, with many shows I've seen being 4.5 or 5 out of 5 stars. Heh, there was the one waaaaaay back in 2000, 3 out of 5 I suppose, that featured more blown lyrics that it just wasn't funny anymore <- and I LOVE blown lines. Love it. Nothing makes me smile more than knowing, at least for one shining and short moment, that I bested the professional GD torch bearers (Desolation Row, El Paso, anyone?? you couldn't pay me enough to try that on stage).

So I'm off until New Years sans JK, which I go with a hopefull disgruntledness. I was kinda annoyed at first, but now I'm interested in how it will morph. Actually I can't wait for NYE :)

personally, I love the 72' shows...refer them as " all star nights " because every song is an all star :-)
