Did you hear the one about......?

What’s the difference between an oral and a rectal thermometer? The taste. What do women and Jell-O have in common? They both quiver before you eat them. -
DSO Shows cancelled thru Summer 2020
Greg from Chestertown replied to Tea's topic in Tour Information Hub
Well, I’m calling the Hamilton today to get my refund for the cancelled acoustic shows. So sad, heavy heart. I started this ‘thing’ 39 years ago. My second Grateful Dead show (the first one where I was aware, not just in awe.) was acoustic. I was really looking forward to Dark Star Orchestra acoustic. I’m proud to say I was at their 1,000th show acoustic celebration at the Birchmere. I’ll never forget looking down the edge of the stage and seeing the singers laying out ‘Attics’ just So beautifully. I made up my mind after seeing the set list from one of their acoustic shows in California a year or two ago, which included ‘makes no difference’ that if they came even somewhere close to home with acoustic that I would be there, no matter what. I hope and pray, wish, and believe that Dark Star Orchestra will endure through these dark, surreal times. We all need a show. The band needs to dust off those rusty strings just one more time. Persevere on to 3,000 shows and beyond. We are deadicated, loyal and somewhat responsible. We will be there supporting you while you support Our need to shake our bones. Gotta get back to where you belong, a little bit harder, just a little bit more... -
Steve Martin. the original not ready for prime time players were the best if you were there while it was happening. They moved boundaries.

Random thoughts and randomness in general
Greg from Chestertown replied to Rude's topic in Random Thoughts
I was reading somewhere recently that when the warlocks changed their name to the Grateful Dead, Bill Graham was upset about it. They already had an Acid test scheduled the next weekend. Members of the band told Bill, that’s what we’re doing. Put ‘formerly the Warlocks’ on the posters. That changes my perspective on their ‘formerly the Warlocks’ shows they did in ‘89 in Hampton. -
I thought don’t ease was the night before, right after desolation row.

Random thoughts and randomness in general
Greg from Chestertown replied to Rude's topic in Random Thoughts
Just a couple of random thoughts, a customer informed me today that the local grocery store (Redner’s) was playing Estimated Prophet on the overhead speakers today. The other important thing is that when I was texting earlier, I typed the word ‘long’. My smartphone suggested that the next word was ‘strange trip’. I thought that was cool -
Rescheduled Spring Tour 2020 - Leg 1

If Trump was a deadhead/Starhead who had been to shows, this wouldn’t be a problem. He would have been like, ‘We need a vaccine and we need it now!’ He just doesn’t understand. He doesn’t know. He doesn’t like licorice. -
Rescheduled Spring Tour 2020 - Leg 1

I was thinking the same thing a few days ago. It’s making it exciting. I hope like hell that it’ll not like the time from Jerry’s passing until I stumbled into Dark Star Orchestra, five years of no shows. I shouldn’t say no shows, one Phil and friends in Camden. We got a pride of Cucamonga and a days between. That was cool. Next year was lame and the last time. Praise DSO ! -
Rescheduled Spring Tour 2020 - Leg 1

Just imagine if the first show back is Dewey Beach. Could you imagine all the Starheads swarming down on that place like cops on a donut shop? -
I did the Spectrum show the next spring where Jerry played ‘comes a time’. Unfortunately, I drank about eight beers, dropped a green world blotter, and inadvertently smoked some opium offered to us by the heads that pushed their broke down VW bus into the parking spot next to us. Yea, I noticed a funny taste and was like, what are we smoking? ‘Oh, it’s opium.’ Needless to say, I was too ossified to appreciate what was a really good show. I never left my seat all night. That night was the one that motivated me to start racking up the shows and taking the music seriously, letting the party become secondary.

I missed this spring tour, Working on boats in OCNJ. WMMR in Philly had the opening of the show live on the radio. Bobby hits the midnight hour, the crowd goes nuts and I immediately regret not being there. I made sure THAT never happened again.

Pretty psyched about the Hamilton acoustic shows being rescheduled to July 13,14. Much better fit for me. I hope that date sticks and the planet gets healthy by then. -
No, not DSO. I was talking about things the other people do.
-
I did notice that everything that’s being canceled is being rescheduled for the fall.

I was just talking to a man who I work for on his farm. He’s extremely far up near the top of the pyramid in the medical profession, graduated number one in his class for physics at a Princeton. He plotted a graph of the number of cases and deaths. He said if things continue at this rate and nothing changes, we will have thirteen million cases and 400,000 deaths by May first. Kinda scary.

I was listening to that this morning. I got chills when, before Tom Thumb blues, everyone was chanting ‘we want Phil’ . Pretty nice birthday present.

Strangers stopping strangers, just to shake their hand....Wait! ...better just keep firing glances across the room.

That will be my only shows this summer. Close to home, easy ride. It’s tough for me to leave the country and drive into cities to catch a show. It’s actually quite traumatic. For some reason, the band loves the Cork. For that, I am grateful.

How to you get a Nun pregnant?
Greg from Chestertown replied to Davie Jerry Garcia's topic in Comedy Central
What kind of meat do priests eat? Nun. -
Isn’t that a lyric from the title track Aja? ......Double helix in the sky tonight.....
-
That looks awesome! I was the biggest Steely Dan freak before I discovered the Grateful Dead. Kid Charlegmane sandwich! Wow! I would definitely go see that. Thing is, do they tour or do I have to travel to the double Helix? Hey, I just realized, do you get that from a Steely Dan tune?
