  1. Montana Wildaxe, 12/17, at the Queen in Wilmington, De. Tight local band that’s been around since the mid seventies. They can play Dead all night long but you could get some Whipping Post, Down by the River, maybe even some Superstition sandwiched into Dead tunes. They only play a few times a year anymore so it’s kind of a big deal. Ask Bixby, he knows.
  2. Their M O is to steal an away game and then go win em all at home. I’m having a blast watching the Phillies. I was at the game that got them the pennant in 1980. Laughing at the home games, thinking about how I danced all over that field on July 10th when Bobby played there.
  3. Wow! I started in 2001 , didn’t realize that line up had just gelled up. I saw dark Star shows for a while before I caught get one with Lisa on Stage. Yea, JK sold me on Dark Star at first. I always said he needed to go with Phil And Bobby. I went too. Caught some shows. Enjoying the vibe at Dark Star shows much better after Jeff Joined up. It’s just chill.
  4. Thanks, Tea. That’s my basic thought every morning when I check in to the forums while the coffee is brewing. I try to exercise restraint and not post every thought I have to everyone else’s posts but thoroughly enjoy talking about all things Grateful Dead. Not an easy task for someone who is a known interrupter. Ask my kids. Forums are a Great help with getting to the show and back safely logistics. Details about a venue or city can be the ultimate in help. The Grateful Dead trivia games that get posted occasionally are a great way to survive until the next chance to catch a show. Gotta stay in tune and the forums do that for me.
  5. Tennessee game was a blast. What was the tune that was playing on the stadium’s speakers while the fans stormed the field after they beat Saban? Found some joy in that.
  6. Simple supply and demand for those three days of shows will drive their prices up. Tuesday is no longer available, thank you.
  7. Samson & Delilah. I think that tune was on Peter, Paul & Mary’s first album, under a different title. Apparently a folk standard.
  8. Hhmmm, deadbase free here, tried it once. It was alright. I’m guessing in the timing that it’s gotta be something off of blues for Allah. Now I have something to ponder today, thanks!
  9. Thank you. I wrote a similar letter on Father’s Day ‘95. You’ll get there. You already took the first step, looking in the mirror and not being pleased with what you see. Keep that mindset that is in the letter. Be patient with yourself. …..comes a time….
  10. QB is the leadership position. They’ll fight tooth and nail to not have that happen. I sometimes imagine a scenario where someone like that has some kind of horrible car accident and they wake up in the hospital, grateful to be alive. The person then gets introduced to the doctor who saved his life who just so happens to be black.
  11. Poor Al Davis must be rolling over in his grave. Doctor I help out with his farm clued me in to a secret code they have in the medical community. FLK= Funny Looking Kid.
  12. Man, my Raiders are stinking up the joint. So much for McDaniels big plans.
  13. Wow! They’re playing the fuck out of Chinatown shuffle.
  14. I, personally, had a blast catching the Philly show this summer. Spent all my grocery money on balloons, ate shrooms for the first time in 34 years, helped everyone around me with the smoking of their weed, copped a bag for later, danced with beautiful women half my age, ( that’s redundant, all the beautiful women are half my age) had the full on Grateful Dead experience down to catching that they did help/slip but didn’t go into Franklin’s. Enjoyed the meat of the second set knowing that they’re probably going back into Franklin’s and waiting for it. I didn’t say anything to anyone because I didn’t want to be the spoiler. Set list was perfect for me to be back in Philly celebrating 42 years of riding up to catch a show and having a blast. It was just exactly perfect. Maybe it was the totally letting go but I did not even notice any tunes trudging along.
  15. It’s in there. I’m exhausted just reading through the first set song list and imagining the energy in the room. Filler is just a sweet cherry on top.
  16. So sad. My parents had a house on 37th and Asbury since 1968. We could look out back, across the marsh and see that neighborhood. We used to ride our bikes through that neighborhood to get to the marina. They filled in the marsh and built those houses right after world war 2. The houses settled and were all lopsided. We used to ride around and check out the houses with broken backs. One by one, they got rebuilt or replaced. I’m talking circa 1970. I also have great memories of that corner of the world.
  17. Didn’t your mom have a house in OCNJ? Right over the 34th street bridge, in that neighborhood on the right as you come into town?
  18. I need to lose my Penn’s Peak Cherry. I think this year may be it.
  19. The Grand in Wilmington is a Sunday show. Just saying. I’m there.
  20. 3/31/18 and 5/26/21 I was in attendance for. Yea, that’s what I thought, just a couple of times a year, more when they first started playing it, just like Jerry and the boys.
  21. Digging the Expressway. Any stats on last time played?
  22. Coolest thing last night; a couple migrated up the front where I was, one back from the rail. The guy explained to me that the lady he was with was deaf. They wanted to get close to stage so she could feel the vibration of the music. I suggested that she needed to have a balloon to hold to better feel the vibrations. (Saw it on the documentary, long, strange trip.) he thought that was a great idea, explained it to her. A guy standing nearby heard us and walked off, came back in a moment with a balloon for her. Pretty cool, was glad to help.
  23. 2/14/88 at the Henry J. Kaiser in Oakland. Mighty Quinn encore went right into Easy Wind with Lisa on Harmonica, box a rain, Let it Rock. Great weather, great night.
