Jack Straw from this show has some traction.

Great interview of John in Rolling Stone.

absolutely assumed that, Tom, but do appreciate the note back. Same for me, just having a little casual chat đ and whilst I do not suspect youâll fall in love with the Geese, I wager you will find some low-level admiration for them if you take a bit of time with some of their stuff cheers! DD

Haha, thatâs awesome. đ I really donât. No skin in the game at all, I promise. I can see the comparison to Phish. Canât see how we went from lack of a unique sound is bad, to would now be a good, but I think I have an idea. Whatever works for you, Tom. Back to the OP, if you want to see a show on a weekday and theyâre in town, Goose is worthwhile for anyone reading this. I donât put them in the same hemisphere as Garcia or anything crazy like that, but they do some neat things, some of which is unique to them. I have seen Phish and Goose, both. My humble opinion đ

The point isnât whether Goose is worthwhile to tour with or not, itâs that they offer a full week structure like RD is discussing, and I think that is primarily because theyâre younger humans. So they have both the energy and the desire/need to play more frequently. And the dig about not having their own sound on the DSO board is sort of ironic. đ

I agree, John, and think heâs very near that ceiling already. Certain cities (Nashville, Denver, etc.) he can sustain a multiple-night run at a decent venue, but I donât ever see Billy touring like GD or Phish or DMB. Those bands are huge in that context.
-
I think that in addition to the juice being worth the squeeze vis a vis tickets sales and filling a venue on the weekend, a lot of the bands youâre referring to could use the rest after a weekend run whilst they travel and take the circus to the next city. I just saw TAB on a Monday and Tuesday night last week, and I needed some rest as well haha. Goose plays all days of the week. Theyâre younger.

Iâm currently recovering from two nights of TAB. Wow. Agree wholeheartedly about Goose, Stu.

Every time I do I tell myself Iâll just go for a fun night out and take it in stride, but when you hear a song start and your soul knows how it should be played and then itâs not, it is very difficult to not be disappointed. It is neat in some ways but frustrating for the most part. My most recent D&C show I could not tolerate it enough to make it to the end. Forewarned = forearmed, Bill.

Like someone came off the three-day creep and finally got you some lists, Tea! đ Thanks you, as always. DD

I didnât have any audio issues until the second night, when I was 20 rows to Brent. So we moved back to where we were on night 1, 15 rows to Phil, and didnât leave for two days. The massive swirl of the sound in that black cage-lookin pavilion was one intense trip. Puddles, indeed. I wasnât sure if it was me, it was so distinct and bizarre, Iâve never had any experience like that at a show, before or since. When I finally got my wits about me to say âfuck this, weâre bailingâ (likely exact quote), it was like being set free. Hey Pocky Way was a riot that second night (always was a riot, though). I grew up about 20 minutes away in just over the Indiana border, so we took Route 30 and back roads instead of I-80. We could see from the lot that people were bailing on their cars on the side of the freeway. I think these were the first big concerts at the place, but I could be wrong about that and am too high to Google it right now.

Foolish Heart is a great song.

Presumably an emphasis on âlayâ as well as âstaffâ?

July 21, 1990. Chicagoland, World Theater. Night 1 of 3, the start of Brentâs final run.

Lemieux played this today, just listened to it. Chunky soundboard, sounds great.

Random, somewhat pertinent public service announcement: tomatoes do not belong in the refrigerator youâre welcome

I heard they were going to do a 10-show run in Phoenix, then 1 show in LA and thatâs it.

haha, no, the confusion about whether or not it is the GOAT đ
