Wow, awesome! I would like one, AC. PM coming your way. Thank you for offering this! DD

August 1. To celebrate Jerry’s birthday, let’s go ahead and give a choice. The Grateful Dead only played 4 times on Garcia’s birthday. Only three are on the Archive: 1973 https://archive.org/details/gd73-08-01.aud.weiner.gdADT08.9145.sbeok.shnf 1982, at the Zoo in Oklahoma. (DSO played the Zoo in Minnesota.) https://archive.org/details/gd82-08-01.sbd.willy.10226.sbeok.shnf 1994 The show in 1967 doesn’t have a setlist and is not on the Archive. There are shows on July 31, and some the first week of August, but it seems evident that, for the most part, Jerry preferred to not be playing on his birthday. Speculation on my part, but it does seem to be a trend. I went to the Detroit show in 1994, Jerry’s 52nd. The show didn’t start until Stagger Lee, when the volume got turned WAY up mid-song (wtf, Cutler?). Music was good. Set 2 of that show was very strong. VOTC Scarlet Fire (only Scarlet/Fire of Summer Tour) Samba Estimated Prophet Drums/Space Watchtower Stella Blue (very emotive) Satisfaction (hot) E: Liberty https://archive.org/details/gd94-08-01.set2-sbd.georges.1026.sbeok.shnf

7/31/88 - TIGDH, was at Laguna Seca. 6/26/88 was the one in Pittsburgh. The only two.

I sincerely respect Lindley’s right to manage his vibe with his music however he sees fit. But copying his CD and sending him a $5 kicker is light years from him getting exposure to tens of thousands of ears whilst appearing as a guest of Phil and Jerry and him saying “no taping”. He was looking a gift horse in the mouth. 🐴🐴🐴

This whole show smokes and should be required listening to attain Deadhead status. If I started to comment about one song, I would be leaving out the others. Greg, Baby Blue is in here. 😄

Dank buds in Vancouver in 1966? Oui, si vous plait. https://www.gratefuldeadoftheday.com/07-30-1966

Lol about LL and the tapers. In what way could they possibly be serious?

7/29/88. Monterey County, California. Famous PITB. China->Crazy->Rider. https://archive.org/details/gd88-07-29.sbd.hayum.5395.sbeok.shnf/gd88-07-29d2t01.shn

Everyone knows about the OTHER show on July 28 (I hope!)... This beauty comes from Red Rocks, in 1982. Soundboards are great and all, but, personally, I love a good audience to help provide some ambience. Before Shakedown kicks in and begins to ROCK, enjoy the taper angst about some cat getting territorial with the taper credited here, Jim Wise. Such animosity just about mic placement, haha. At least we have proof that he - and his tapes - survived. Enjoy! https://archive.org/details/gd82-07-28.fob-senn421.wise.4980.sbefail.shnf

Ok, kids. July 27, 1973. Watkins Glen soundcheck day is today. https://www.gratefuldeadoftheday.com/07-27-1973

July 26, 1987. Anaheim, California. View from the Vault IV. Three sets, sports fans. Dead/Dead/Dylan+Dead. Cool audience recording. Enjoy the day! https://archive.org/details/gd1987-07-26.nak700.yamaguchi-poris.russjcan.98214.flac16/gdbd87-07-26d1t09.flac

2. Ever. The only two times that Slipknot was played when it did not involve Help on the Way and/or Franklin’s Tower were the first two times it was played. Both of those were Summer Tour, 1974 6/20/74 in Atlanta: Eyes of the World->Slipknot->China Doll 7/25/74 in Chicago: Dark Star->Slipknot->Stella Blue There were three shows in ‘75 and ‘76 that had Help/Slip/Franklin’s sandwiches of sorts (drums, other tunes mixed in). The only other variation to its normal placement was in Boston on 9/20/91, when the second set opened Help->Slip->Fire on the Mountain. Thanks for the prompt, John. That was fun.

July 25, 1982. Compton Terrace. Tempe, Arizona. Good audience recording here. Unique jam before Drums with Bobby and the drummers. Set 1: Mississippi Half Step-> Franklin's Tower-> CC Rider, Bird Song, El Paso, Candyman, Lost Sailor-> Saint Of Circumstance-> Deal Set 2: Scarlet Begonias-> Fire On The Mountain-> Samson & Delilah, Crazy Fingers-> Estimated Prophet-> Drums-> Not Fade Away-> Black Peter-> Good Lovin' E: Don't Ease Me In https://archive.org/details/gd1982-07-25.fob.senn421.wise.miller.102502.flac16/gd82-07-25d2t06.flac

July 24. There are two shows from this date, and we covered the one with Dylan and that is the Oakland half of View From the Vault IV earlier in this thread, so now you get Soldier Field, 1994. Lots of new music in here, mixed with some of the oldest songs played by the baddest Band in the Land. Asterisk means Bobby played acoustic for that song. Uno: Mississippi Half Step, It's All Over Now, Roses, El Paso*, Loose Lucy, If The Shoe Fits, Easy Answers-> Don't Ease Me In Dose: Samson & Delilah, Way to Go Home, Eyes Of The World-> Eternity-> He's Gone-> Drums-> Space-> The Days Between-> Throwing Stones-> Not Fade Away E:Liberty https://archive.org/details/gd94-07-24.aud.candyman.10087.sbeok.shnf

7/23/90. World Music Theater in Tinley Park, Illinois (Chicagoland). Brent’s last show, and a very good end to a smoking Summer Tour. Brent’s last lyric sung by himself: “I’ve got to go, but my friends can stick around...” Highlight for me was Cold Rain (because it’s always a highlight for me), and the first set closing with Cassidy, Truckin’->Nobody’s Fault Jam->Smokestack Lightning. RIP Brent. He sang Never Trust a Woman in the 3 slot here. Uno: Cold Rain & Snow, Picasso Moon, Good Time Blues, Stagger Lee, Cassidy, Truckin'-> Smokestack Lightning Dose: Victim Or The Crime-> Foolish Heart-> Women Are Smarter-> Terrapin Station, Drums-> Jam-> All Along The Watchtower-> Standing On the Moon-> Around & Around-> Good Lovin', E: The Weight https://archive.org/details/gd90-07-23.sbd.oconner.7612.sbeok.shnf/gd90-07-23d3t07.shn

Best of the three shows, imo. Any show with Pocky Way is typically hot.

Imagine you’re in Seattle on July 22, 1972... This recording is missing the first few tunes, but what’s there sounds great. https://archive.org/details/gd72-07-22.sbd.vernon.13562.sbeok.shnf/gd72-07-22d1t01.shn

Let’s head back out West for TIGDH - to the Bowl. Not that kynd of bowl, you miscreants — Hollywood Bowl! And the year is 1974. You know what that means: the Wall of Sound. First link is to read, second one is to listen. Have a fun day! https://www.gratefuldeadoftheday.com/07-21-1974 https://archive.org/details/gd74-07-21.bertrando.weiner.8241.sbeok.shnf

Good morning, Hipsters. July 20 only has one show, and it’s back at Da Creek. 1994. Not to pile on poor Jer and the gang, but this is obviously not 1990 anymore (yes, I realize 1990 wasn’t a high point for the band from many points of view, haha). Here Comes Sunshine was a lot of fun. UJB wasn’t coming post-drums/out of space anymore by this time, so that was a nice surprise. https://www.gratefuldeadoftheday.com/07-20-1994

Ok, back to Alpine for 7/19/89. As I mentioned above, it started to rain during the end of the previous show, and never stopped. The blue ink in my guat shirt bled just enough to make my hands and arms appear tie-dyed. For a long while I thought it was just the way I was getting shown the light, lol. Highlights: Bucket Sugaree Althea Deal Foolish Heart Lovelight encore https://jerrygarcia.com/show/1989-07-19-alpine-valley-music-theatre-east-troy-wi-usa/ *I didn’t see the Deer Creek show at the bottom of your Cats post, Tea. I’ll leave this up anyway if that’s cool. Both excellent shows.

3rd row, center section, aisle seat in front of Jerry (thanks, GDTS!). Thought I would wear my Help on the Way shirt that had a stealie with a Red Cross in it. Garcia approved. Best Deer Creek show of all time, imo. https://archive.org/details/gd90-07-18.sbd.wilson.12760.sbeok.shnf

Yeah, I don’t think Naked Man (all 30 of him) would have been ok with the locals, haha.

Joel, I thought you looked familiar. 😜

As you are likely aware, the 7/17/89 show was an official video release titled “Downhill From Here”. You would like watching it if you haven’t already. 🤠 I would guess that Lemieux will use it as one of the Shakedown Stream presentations if they keep doing that, because he is typically using previously released shows (tonight’s from 7/8/90 is extremely choice). A strange fact about the Downhill From Here production is that they used the end of the first set from final night of the run (7/19) instead of the Row Jimmy, Masterpiece, Push-Shove, Music Never Stopped (the Music was used on the Fallout from the Phil Zone release) that actually closed this set. The West LA, Desolation, Deal are similarly smoking hot, but the switch is inexplicable. Bobby did not change shirts mid-set, haha.

It started to rain during Mighty Quinn (encore of the next night), and never stopped. It’s still raining in Noblesville, to this day. The weather this night (was a Monday) and for nearly all of the 7/18 show was sublime (for summertime). If it’s any consolation, AC, I don’t really remember a damn thing from Alpine 88. #FreshGooneyBirds
