Thank you God for this past year, Thank you God for family here Thank you God for this delicious food, Thank you God for all that's good Awesome night, no better way to kick off the holidays. Sold out show once again at the Peak! DSO never disappoints. They threw me off with a 1st set drums, never heard that before. Thought maybe it was an elective set. The band is just a juggernaut when they get warmed up. The whole second set was fire once again. Props to my upstairs dancers. Another awesome night on the mountain. Hopefully everyone made it home safely and had a great Thanksgiving celebration with family and friends.

The past two pre-Thanksgiving Peak shows were electives. I'm feeling old skool ~ 1969-1970 It's gotta be close to 20years of pre-Thanksgiving shows up there. I do recall a year or two with copious amounts of snow out on the deck which turned into an epic snowball fight. I think one year DSO had to cancel since they couldn't get their bus up the snowy driveway. Can't wait for that first Skip Bomb that shakes the wooden walls of the Peak!

* Ripple rather than Brokedown to end the show. And they snuck in a Mr. Charlie. Amazing night, perfect weather. Dark Star tried to start the second American revolution under a bridge in Harrisburg, PA with those fillers. Some of the highlights Hell in a bucket, Rob E. was making it up as he went along. Lots of energy. China>Rider and He’s gone was intense. It almost felt like a 3 set show with all those fillers. Great outdoor venue, kind of liked it better than the indoor version DSO played the last few times. Worked out well. Camped in the van on a nearby residential street w/ no problems. Great job by the band & crew!

JGB w/ Ron Holloway | Willies Midnight Crazy Train Campout Schuylkill Haven, PA Technically it was last weekend. Man they are really killing it these days. Melvin's Hammond just tears through your soul. Also the night before was Melody trucks and the Fitzkee brothers (w/ Melvin & Ron H.), they also put on a pretty good show. A cool local news clip from back in the day https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXznln7_7Vs If you get a chance, seek out the 30 for 30 Bill Walton The Luckiest guy in the world. Very well made with tons of Dead references

Another one for the ages at the Peak. So much to be Thankful for, so much love in the air. Sold out show and the joint was jumpin'. The most viscous Slipknot I've ever heard. Great elective set. Even with it being packed there was plenty of room to dance (if you know where to find it, just gotta poke around) and getting drinks wasn't that bad either. The line to get in was nothing like I've ever seen. Didn't get up there until like 7:30p and the line to get in was stretched all the way through the lot probably 300yds 4 people deep. Waited about a half hour but I think they got almost everyone in by the start of the show. Glad to see the tradition continue. We can't take this stuff for granted. We've seen how easily things can be taken away.

Was on my ways to the Keys last week when we heard the news. The man embodied the Caribbean spirit. Like Marley was to Reggae, Jimmy Buffet was to island rock. His concert parking lots were up there with GD lot parties. Many parrot heads will be feeling this for a while. RIP https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KfuMsrQHFgk

Like Rude said no rythem guitar that night for JGB, but the night before they played a full on Dead show and Tom Circosta filled in for Rob E. I thought he did an admirable job. Tom was a Zen Trickster and played with Jeff and I think Rob B too. Pretty sure Rob E. was back at it the next show. Dark Star Orchestra 8-4-23 Weather Report - YouTube

Great show in the rolling hills of Pennsylvania. I'm not gonna lie, when I saw the band tuning up and didn't see Rob E. out there panic started to set in. Wasn't sure what was going on. But Tom C. more than held his own. I was thoroughly impressed by the relief guitarist out of the bullpen. The band was spot on once again. High energy on Hey Pockey Way. Skip belted out Tom Thumbs, Terrapin was cooking with gas. My first Low spark which fit the night perfectly. It was probably like 20mins long and could have lasted 40. Bugs tried to carry the band away in the first set but they fought through, along with some roof drippage issues from the earlier storm. Touch was a nice ender. Can't thank the band enough for bringing it 100% every time they step out on the stage. The passion, dedication to their craft is unmatched. Even professional athletes that get paid hundreds of millions of dollars take nights off and just go through the motions. I've never seen DSO not leave everything they have on the stage every night. It's gotta be hard with personal stuff, ailments, travel to just bring it everyday but they do. A rare breed indeed. Praise DSO Dark Star Orchestra 8-4-23 Weather Report - YouTube

Awesome setlist, awesome venue, DSO doing JGB was a nice treat. Each song was jammed out pretty hard. So many highlights. Mission was flawless. They said Rob E. had to get off his feet for a bad sciatica. If DSO decides to come back and headline this festival again (2 nights) it's a no brainer. My first time there and it was pretty pretty good. If you look up chill in the dictionary there should be a picture of this place. Huge wooded area for camping. A creek/stream ran right through the properly, people were in the creek the whole time on inflatables jamming to the music, many hammocks abound, the preferred thing to do was catch a nap at some point during the day. Music on Friday 2:30p-4:00a and music on Sat. from noon-4:00a. They also had early bird shows Thurs night. Just impressed with the vibe, the bands, everything. Didn't see one security guard or cop all weekend, soo many vendors selling food, cloths, and pretty much anything you can think of. The best part about it was it's BYOB. As much as I like paying $22 a beer at places like the Peach festival for One beer, this is a breath of fresh air. Place was literally out in the middle of nowhere. Back roads for a while, just fields, mountains, and rivers then the venue. There's something about a DSO show that is smack dab in the middle of mother nature. I saw how DSO just threw a stage up out in Jackson Hole and rocked out on the edge of a mountain. This kinda had the same vibe even though we were down in a valley. Kudos to the band for making it an awesome weekend.

And you don't even get a physical ticket anymore. I miss the days of camping out at ticket locations in a mall. Getting random numbers or bracelets then buying physical tickets that I could do with what I want and be able to save the stubs as a little reminder of the event. Also entering a venue was 1000% easier. They rip your ticket, you keep the stub and you're in. Now its wait in a see of people, get a rectal exam & a radiation scan (for security) then they have to try to scan everyone's barcode on peoples phones. Society is going in the wrong direction all for "convenience"?

I was there. Preakness show, 2 nights I believe. I'm thinking this was night two. We had commandeered the small 2nd floor VIP room and turned it into a smoke shack. Great shows. I thought I had them on CD as well somewhere but would need a pick and axe to find them, buried deep

Just did a quick search on https://www.setlist.fm/song/grateful-dead/candyman-4bd687ee.html Clicked on about 7 shows and they all played Candyman in the 1st set, so you might be onto something.

DSO took it to a new level on the PA mountaintop. Sold out show, people were hanging from the rafters, still was able to find dance space when needed. Chinacat > Rider right out of the gate set the tone. BIODTL in the first was also taken to new heights. Shakedown 2nd set opener was prime. The whole second set was the crescendo. A nice culmination with the Stephen Stills Love the one your're with, which I think was a first time for me. A great night was had by all. I do remember having to go through a sobriety checkpoint on the way home on route 443. Luckily the cops were cool and sent me on my way. Might not have been 100% sober but pulled the jedi mind trick on them. Probably take the hiway home from now on.

The gang came out with a smoking Promised Land knocking the dust off the rafters at XL Live. Cassidy had a real funky beat. Bertha>Good Lovin' is always a burner. Truckin was played with poise and intensity right into Around and Around which definitely had the joint jumping. US Blues kept the crowd in a frenzy. My first time hearing Piece of my Heart...Wow very impressive. Good to see Rob B. back on stage.

A few tips for Peak newbie's ~ 1. Get your ticket ahead of time, it will sellout 2. 8:00p start, if you get in line to get into the show at 7:45p you will wait a long time and might miss the opener. I suggest going in before there's a long line since they check IDs at the door and give you a booz bracelet if you want to drink. 3. No smoking inside, they will pull your card. But anything goes on the outside deck. 4. In the past sometimes local cops have sat at the bottom of the mountain looking to ruin people's holiday, watch out for the heat (haven't seen them the past few times) 5. The views will blow your mind

Happy (what would have been your 80th) Birthday Jerome John Garcia. Thanks for creating the soundtrack of many of our lives. Though one of life's greatest tragedies was me never being able to roast a bone and listen to you live in person no one musician has come close to being a bigger influence in my life. Would of loved to seen what kind of crazy music that would have come out in the last 27 years. Just listening to some Legion of Mary, JGB, and Old & in the way. Jerry definitely had the chops to play any kind of music acoustic or electric with more passion and soul that almost anyone. I'd like to think the day I move on to the Promised Land I'll be greeted by a small concert hall with Jerry and the boys up on stage for an epic recreation of a magic filled show that catches everyone off guard with the fresh new sound of an up and coming band that just landed on the scene. Rest in Rock Jerr
