Good to see you again! I think the size of the venue helps build the energy up for the audience and band which causes the music to spark extra good How old is Melvin these days?

I did the whole tour. Fantastic show. Viola Lee was the theme for the tour it seemed. Amazing music and since I was 19, amazing summer. Also, did Junior Brown open this show? I know he did in Kansas. I went and listened to this one. It was fantastic! Thanks for the rec. -
That's exactly where I was camped out. Thank you for confirmation. Megaphone dude, despite disrupting my sleep, was hilarious. The section is lively every year.

I remember an late night or all night party on year 1, at least night 1. One Dude was on megaphone all night by my tent. He was pretty hilarious. At one point he told everyone the “the cops are here and they are partying more than you people”

I loved Jubilee 1 also, don't get me wrong. In fact, the first night was great all around. Small intimate crowd, warm & sunny, great music. Some of the last shows of Cornmeal, Keller was good. The DSO show was a sweet early 80's show. But the rain that started off and on the second day was alot. I managed to get my tent covered by a huge tarp that covered a whole bunch of us, so it worked out. The second year was great for me because I accidentally had packed thermals and didn't realize it until we got there, and so I was pretty covered. Woo Hoo! Right about now, I could use a warm sunny early summer day with a cold beer and an ez up and chair with music in the background

That’s no good!

That’s fair Naw, it was the Labor Day Jubilee in 2012. Washed the large stage out on second day. Mickey Hart played in VIP tent

I see non jam bands all the time. DSO & Billy Strings are really the only national jam bands I see. I'm a grateful dead fan, and actually I can't stand the jam band genre. Saw Dinosaur Jr killing it at the Brooklyn Bowl in November. Getting ready to see Mannequin Pussy soon

Last years weather was probably my least favorite in all my years attending, minus the hurricane the first year that shut down music. I mean, I can take the cold of 2013 (I happened to pack long johns by a random mistake, throwing them in my bag, and OMG it was like I won the lottery). But it was a "dry" cold for the most part, and if you danced hard or got next to a fire or warm grill, you could maintain. But last years weather sucked. The cold rain and wind was bone chilling, especially because it had been fairly warm in the weeks prior. I loved the shows, despite the pods, but lets all request some perfect weather for 2022. Lows in the 50's and highs in the upper 70s. Its too early in the season, but I'm jonesing for some DSO and some time away already

Well....not so fast. I live in KY, right outside Lexington. Last year the schools delayed announcing when graduation would be, so I purchased tickets to Dark Star Jubilation. A few weeks prior to the event, the schools decided graduation would be on the same weekend. I had the same thought: who in their right mind would schedule a graduation on a three day weekend? Well, they did. and my wonderful son was graduating. So I did what any loving father would do. I did both! Woke up around 3 am on the first night, drove like a bat out of hell, showered & changed in truck stop, and arrived early, clean, and suited up in Lexington where the ceremony was. Afterwards, celebrated with lunch and a celebration at home, and much joy was to be had. Then I immediately jumped back in my car and made the 4 hour trek in record time and pulled back into Legend Valley, back to my tent, grabbed a couple of beers, and walked into the bowl as DSO took the stage again. It was a whirlwind, but I did successfully manage to attend a much needed festival after covid and also celebrate my Son's awesome achievement. Win win. But yes, even in KY, graduations are planned for Memorial Day Weekend.

It was a show that happened really quick. It was basically conceived and announced in 24 hour period Um, like the Steely Dan with dead overtones

Grateful Sunday Presents: Friday Show The Fishtank, Lexington, KY, Friday, 2021-12-17 ~|~ Feel Like A Stranger Mama Tried> Mexicali Blues West LA Fadeaway Ya Mar (Phish) Loser Pretzel Logic (Steely Dan) Ramble On Rose* Jack Straw* Tough Mama (Dylan) Music Never Stopped* ~||~ Don’t Let Go* Peg (Steely Dan) Cumberland Blues* Rubin and Cherise* Viola Lee Blues* Tore Up* China Cat Sunflower> I Know You Rider* Run Run Rudolph ~~~~~~ Lee Owen, Guitar Brandon Bowlds, Guitar Rob Barnes, Bass Brad Slutskin, Keys Dino English, Drums *with Jenny Adkins on back up vocals This little show at the Fishtank in Lexington was one of the better shows I’ve seen in a year. Lee and Brandon traded rhythm and lead guitar on every song outdoing one another and raising the energy level higher and higher, while Rob Barnes and Dino kept the groove jumping with their bass and drums locked in. The Viola Lee Blues and Dont Let Go were serious highlights and had amazing jams in them. walked in thinking I’d have a couple drinks and a decent time, but the music was stunning.
