Its a heads up for chuck to hit the road again. That tease came as a test of the emergency broadcasting network. This was just a test. In the case of an actual low spark, you better have tickets. I’ve got my Philly flight booked but flying out early Sunday. Bix and I were pumped about the cowboys beating the saints and in the spirit I yelled a go cowboys waiting for the Uber telling some people coming from a club I’m much less likely to be stabbed in DC than Philly saying that to which the DC guys said if you say that in our neighborhood you will get stabbed and they didn’t say it jokingly. Before I yelled that I saw at least 4 cops close even though they would have likely looked the other way for the 1st few blows. It would have been a cool story getting to explain the scars and a good omen for a deep playoff run. Drift complete.

I use a comfy insert and running shoes and realize I need to upgrade again. I may get some usain bolt track shoes that weigh 4 grams but think those only last 400 meters. I’d have to carry 4-5 pairs to survive a show. We were talkinj after the show about how did the fans survive allman brothers then a 4.5 hour dead show in the heat. We know the answer really. There weren’t 45-65yr olds at the show and in 73 they probably walked 4 miles to RFK and didn’t think twice about it. They just took off their shirts and got a great sunburn and got to experience one of the great pleasures of life. It’s best not to think too long about those kinds of things though even though I lived vicariously through probably a 15yr old rob barraco who said he lied to his parents to go to that rfk show. I wonder if he ever imagined when he was at that show if he would have played with the allman brothers 40 years later at their farewell shows. That’s sort of crazy to think about. I’m guessing if you said that to him at rfk “you are going to play keyboards with the allmans someday” he’d have laughed his ass off and asked how much acid you had eaten lol.

Solid call and investigative work!!! And every time I look at some of those older setlists my mind always gets blown. Having a MAMU and a smoking fast big river at where the encore would be in a normal show was just unfair. I left it all out there for that big river and then an eyes. Wtf. I had to stop dancing mid eyes and take a pee break just to catch my breath to not lose face trying to keep up with bill k tea and gr8fulpair. I was making the comment to them during big river that they need to elevate more and I began hopping leaving the ground not realizing an eyes was upcoming. Rookie mistake on my part. It’s like practicing for a marathon and then we get one of the 100 mile endurance races and I ran the 1st 26 miles at marathon pace thinking I could do it the whole time. Fortunately I caught a 6th wind after taking a 5 minute dance break and crossed the finish line standing so much fun

It was clearly low spark space for prob 45-60 secs. Assumed it was coming for the 1st time ever since Dso loves Norfolk more than anywhere else. Why do u say? They played the only 68 show there so obviously they love Norfolk and they were so so close to releasing low spark so maybe they were saying don’t get a big head Norfolk thinking you get the only 68 and only low spark. They played hard to get last night after being really easy last year.

Tickets say 7. Norva website says 8. Norvas Facebook has 2 event listings for Dso—one 7 and one 8. So that’s 2 for 7 and 2 for 8 and we don’t want to get there early. Anyone know? Thanks

You know it’s gonna be a good show when you see the alligator on stage.

John kladecik rejoining DSO for special pre-Christmas jam
Rude replied to Poor_Sue's topic in Tour Information Hub
If it was a deadco sucks, you’d have gotten a thumbs up but panic is a solid jam band with a talented tight cast of musicians. Not a fan of their newer stuff as much but they put on a good show for a good value and give a person like myself that has zero music coming to me some extra music to see within a 5 hour drive. I like panic more than phish as panic is more of a dance groove. Plus panic was my 1st jam band I ever saw so they always have a place in my heart -
Touch heads are in their late 40s and 50s. Besides talking too much, this group generally doesn’t cause much problems. This isn’t the group that robs tents or scams people. I don’t know what the problem was at the peak but touch heads may have been an issue when they were 18-24 but not now. The biggest thing about age is we’ve all overdone it before and we know our limits a little bit more. I puked in my seat in Memphis 95. Sat down and puked between my legs for 20 minutes during drums when the bass was so loud it changed my heartbeat to the drum rhythm. I puked my guts out at WSP in 93 laid out in the grass unable to move in a pile of vomit. I’m much more cautious now because the feeling like you are dying surrounded by thousands of people is one I do not ever want to feel again. Pushing the limits is a young mans game when you are invincible with much less to lose.

Glad to see you back on the train bro. I always enjoy being around your peaceful glow and your reflective beam. Hope you and everyone had a great thanksgiving with their loved ones. If you are still on board I’ll see u next weekend with the gang. Can’t wait to hang with our 4-some. The group of Gr8tfulpair, tea, goingbacktowhere and myself has led to many a night rolling on the floor crying laughing. It’s a pretty great group dynamic and it only comes together once a year besides jubilee but that’s a much larger group. You have the dead encyclopedia, the mild mannered storyteller, the wild man and the situational comedian. And any can be any of those depending on the night. The best nights are when all 4 are the wild men but that requires a full moon and 6 other secret ingredients and ideally have an acre between us and the next living souls. I can tell being around family today has lifted my spirits plus the COWBOYS WIN!!!!

It’s funny because you can listen to 99% of dead shows at home. But because he has that on CD then Dso isn’t allowed to play that one. If I was still on FB I’d have replied if they couldn’t play a show you can listen to at home, they would have under 100 shows they could choose from out of 2300. And that 100 is way too high. Prob 20 or less from 69 on that there’s not a source for. I’ve seen maybe 2 Dso shows where I couldn’t find a source. 1970 has a few missing.

So glad I’m off Facebook personally but saw on DSO’s site some dude said how upset he was and wanted his money back because he can listen to Dozin at the Knick at home. Different times we live in.

Lol I always think the same thing and just saw bobby and wolf bros do it and told the gf smokestack. I hate to say it but it’s one of those songs I click next when it comes on unless I’m in a long drive. Rooster is another I skip in the car. Not a big fan of the dead doing blues covers in a traditional blues style. But I never piss during truckin but if you do, do it during the lyrics and get back by the jam . Truckin jams are one of my fav things to see Dso do. That’s where u get to see Dso do their own thing.

Nice!!! The biggest biggest bass bomb I ever heard fromDso was the Days Between in Paradise but the whole song was the bass bomb. Had to move to the back during it. That being said I love Dso doing late Brent shows!!! I think that’s what they do the best.

Several of my local friends were hoping he’d be at jubilee this year b4 it was announced. Guess I should take a listen

56 now confirmed dead from the Camp Fire. There’s a scathing la times article today about how the city of paradise didn’t want to create gridlock and didn’t alert everyone at Once. And they could have used the emergency alert system on everyone’s phone but they used a voluntary signup alert system with only 25% of town signed up and still many of those weren’t even alerted to the fire until they were on fire. The other issue is their code red system can only contact so many people at once even if there was 100% signup so it may take 30 minutes to even alert everyone in town. This story just gets sadder by the day, knowing that some of these lives could have been saved by better decision making.

Besides the 30+ people who died another sad thing was reading about all the wildlife and pets who died stranded and burned. Many people weren’t home and weren’t allowed back to their homes to get their animals and were posting their address for people to kick in their doors to get their pets out. Unlike the humans the pets locked in had no chance at survival. Saw a guy talk about his 5 horses burned alive in his barn as well as his dogs he couldn’t get to. By the time people were even alerted to the fire it was already upon them. So many burned alive in their cars fleeing. Nightmare scenario. Was told the performing arts center was still standing which was surprising considering everything around it was burned. I wouldn’t doubt a benefit concert by Dso on winter tour is upcoming.

Wow "Pretty much the community of Paradise is destroyed, it's that kind of devastation," said Cal Fire Capt. Scott McLean late Thursday. "The wind that was predicted came and just wiped it out." holy fuck Conway lives in paradise, btw. Was such a cute little town.

That’s what happens when someone sprays you at a show. It’s like invisible ink at 1st

There are always lots of official and unofficial chemists at dead shows. That was right where we were dancing. No clue joe the chemist was really close to me. On a chemistry note, at the covington Dso show on Valentine’s Day 2015 there was a guy in front of us that also looked like a chemist. Well he had the molecular structure of LSD tattooed on his face, so I assume he was a chemistry professor. He must have taken pride in his PHD work at Cincinnati and gotten the tattoo to reflect that pride. It took up most of the right side of his face. I asked him what his LinkedIn profile was listed as and he said huh. I guess he didn’t want to talk about his job before a show. I don’t like to talk about work either.

Nice. So you did all 3 nights of their Hampton run. Hampton is definitely one of the dead central areas of the country. Nashville not so much. Maybe that had something to do with it. There’s always drunk idiots at most shows hollering so maybe I was just in the middle of that group. But I have been to several Dso shows where the crowd was pin drop silent. It’s such a rare thing that it’s super special. You def won’t get that with 10k person crowds. The law of averages will tell you that when you have a small town smashed into a venue there’s bound to be a few ultra obnoxious people but with 1000 people you have a small shot at a near perfect crowd. It’s rare but you can get a Stella where not a person makes a peep.

I need to find balance in the winter. Sitting at my desk in the house looking out at the green pool and leaveless trees with the long wait til life springs is so rough. The worst is now until a month after winter solstice. At least after that I can tell myself the days are getting longer. Think I just need a winter house in Palm Springs. We found out the hard way why every hotel in Palm Springs at the end of June is $60 a night. It would be reversed out there. U stay hidden in the summer and only come out after. I just need a balanced climate like Los Angeles. Well it’s not exactly balanced. It’s pretty much perfect all the time. Compton looks semi affordable plus you get free bars included on your windows in any house you buy and may live next to an aspiring rapper who gets his street cred by robbing you at gunpoint. I’d have a great story though and what is life without great stories.

That was pretty much the exact weather in my couple days in portland in February. If nothing else the weather is very predictable out west. Winters are joyous in SoCal and the kind that get you padded walls up north.

So after several shows I realized JRAD uses some filter that gives the arena type special sound like its bouncing everywhere. It creates a hollow type sound where you barely hear the high hats and cymbals. JRAD is awesome but wish they wouldn’t do that. Dso’s sound is direct and clear unless they decide to space it out at times but not the whole show. It sounds like a dead audience recording to an extent. The dead didn’t make the music sound like that. It just recorded like that from the bouncing in an arena but 30 feet from stage in a tall ceiling theater should be crystal clear live. At times all you hear are the toms. The highs don’t come through. I asked people at my 1st show what’s wrong with the sound. In the Anthem as well as Philly it was like that. That being said, they are a fantastic group musically put on a top notch show. We got to hang out with Tom Hamilton at the Philly train station, well he was next to us in line for the Train from Philly to DC for 30 minutes so we were interrogating him, and saw the rest of the band when w arrived in DC and asked them about Jazz Fest. Can’t believe the girls failed to get a pic with Oteill when we said hi. Really they should have gotten a whole band pic.
