Fun fact. Today is the 4th anniversary of the gf’s 1st Dso show. Don’t think she danced a lick in set 1 of that show. Almost perfectly still just watching thw Band. You would never know that was the same person. Logging around 100 dead related shows is like hanging at the Jim Jones compound for a while. It will change you. And both groups drank the koolaid.

Freaking storm delaying flights into philly..... I’ll risk it southwest. But think about the children.....

Working the day before and after Christmas sounds horrible. Sorry about that. Luckily doing sales my clients all take off 2 weeks st Christmas so I have the whole period free of stress.

7-8-95 best visions ever because 1st time I ever heard it and only song not flubbed. When compared to all other songs that day it was played at a higher level than any song the dead ever played compared to other songs in any other show. It’s like a new local dead band played the rest and then Jerry blessed by god was able to do one song perfectly. Play the Althea then play visions and you can see the insane contrast. There’s my subjectiveness. It’s like the Boston 95 so many roads that makes me cry thinking Jerry was singing about himself even though the rest of that show wasn’t nearly as horrible.

Got tix Put an ISO on CashorTrade along with 6 other people who had the same ISO and I somehow got em. I’m lucky most of the other people ISO had 0 reviews. The cool thing about 3rd and lindsley when I lived in Nashville is we’d get there early, eat drink and secure a spot. I Worked for Cumulus broadcasting and had a buddy who worked for lightning100 and he had extras for most shows. it was always a seated affair. I assume it’s still like that. I’m cool with that really. Plan to eat drink and be merry plus 6 hours on my feet would be torture unless the dead is pumping through my veins zombifying my legs. Decided to spend the night instead of driving back which means a Christmas stumble appears to be in order. Merry Christmas and a belated Hanukkah.

Life has ceased to be simple. We werent genetically wired to be interconnected to the world. Just wait 50 years when the entire species is linked by implants. They will talk about how simple life was when we just had to deal with group messages and texts.

Almost none is an over exaggeration but I’d guess less than half I knew correctly. Some o realized I’ve been singing wrong probably like many deadheads did before internet and box of rain. How did we ever answer those questions? What was life like before internet. It’s semi mind blowing and likely not even a thought in mind of an 19yr old.

So the last 3 double deckers ended with originals but the previous 6 ended recreations. If we keep going back I’m sure an exact pattern will occur. Let me run everything through my cray supercomputer and I’ll spit out the setlists for next tour. Cant wait for the low spark bust out in Philly lol. The gf being of another generation is unfamiliar with traffic so had to play 20 songs for her yesterday. It’s been 20yrs since I dug deep with traffic and it brought back memories of Lexington in my early 20s. I also realized I knew almost no lyrics from low spark. Better get more familiar 😂

Thats funny because I’d have guessed the opposite as black mountain is almost always 2nd night original but it also ends summer tour. Maybe I catch the end of tour a lot so my thinking is skewed. Thanks for doing the legwork!! the only weird part is you show 24 1st night shows and 30 2nd night shows Just be creative and there are never issues. Vape. No fire and you are coo.

Best guess is always 2nd night most likely to be an original but you may be talking 60/40. They shake it up. The 28th is 1st show of the run and that could be an original. Flip a coin and go with the night you have less on your plate the following morning we will be at both of those. Flights and hotels booked and conflicts are no longer conflicting.

Fantastic quality audience. Piping this through the stereo reveals the crisp highs that can get lost in many audience recordings. Bravo brother!!!! I love the feel of being at the show when listening to aud recordings but there’s nothing lacking with the sound like many recordings. Having those mics 15’? in the air I’m guessing helped the sound quality somewhat and kept talkers from affecting the sound as well. That big river was as fast as I remembered it. 1:25 into the 2nd set I left it all on the dance floor with that smoking tempo rendition not realizing I had to survive another 30 minutes of music in that set. Thank you GD for putting a China Doll after Eyes or Id have spent the rest of the night with an IV bag in my arm in a DC hospital next to guys with bullet wounds instead of with good friends chilling with cocktails. 😂

Masters of war was never played by Jerry or the dead that I could find. It was played by later iterations. That’s one Dso has played. I’m sure there are several more. And that just shows that that I shouldn’t trust any site to tell me all times played as the page I found showed that 2003 show as the 1st ever played and 9x ever played lol. Deadbase also doesn’t show all times played for anything but JGB and GD. I guess trying to tally every single time any of the dead in their hundreds of iterations played any song is a Herculean task. I guess we will just have to be content with GD and JGB (and DSO) lists I aint often right but ive never been wrong

Being curious about low spark I grabbed the deadbase in Combo with google and I found out that the 1st time that Low spark was played by Bobby and Phil was when The Dead played it On 6/21/03 and 6/25/03 but Steve winwood joined them on stage as he was the opening band. Rob B was with the dead at that time but not sure if Steve took over on keys during it. It’s hard to find out much about it but barraco was there when it was played the 1st time. It looks like the Q played it as well but DB50 ends at 12/31/14 and looks like it was played in 2016 by the Q. So..looks like Rob B was with at least 1 original dead member around 1/3 of the time it was ever played by them and will be at 100% of the shows Dso will play it at.

I thought the lighting was fantastic at the anthem. Note that it has house lights that are better than any venue I’ve seen so that goes a long way. What was weird was that the lights never hit me all night. Not sure I’ve ever seen a show where they didn’t rotate through the crowd and light us up at all. I like a little distraction and blinding. It makes you lose contact with reality for a short period. I get not wanting a beam on you for 60 seconds though. someone said before that the dead never did lights like that. They didn’t have robotic tech then either. They would have gone all out if they had the LED light tech of today. Deadco does a ridiculous light show and you are constantly being blinded.

Its a heads up for chuck to hit the road again. That tease came as a test of the emergency broadcasting network. This was just a test. In the case of an actual low spark, you better have tickets. I’ve got my Philly flight booked but flying out early Sunday. Bix and I were pumped about the cowboys beating the saints and in the spirit I yelled a go cowboys waiting for the Uber telling some people coming from a club I’m much less likely to be stabbed in DC than Philly saying that to which the DC guys said if you say that in our neighborhood you will get stabbed and they didn’t say it jokingly. Before I yelled that I saw at least 4 cops close even though they would have likely looked the other way for the 1st few blows. It would have been a cool story getting to explain the scars and a good omen for a deep playoff run. Drift complete.
