Random thoughts are flowing like wine. so… I hate to admit this but I’ve never ever looked up the words to supplication until now. It’s not in any Hunter or Barlow lyric book that I’ve read like poetry so maybe you can excuse me. Maybe to me it’s all about hitting the Whooooo without watching Eaton do the head turn alerting everyone to the transition. It’s a hard one to hit b/c Bobby decided when to come back so either you’re watching for cues or get lucky. Is it sad that I like the 2 wooooos in supplication? Can I be de-evolved for a bit and just have simple pleasures.

Sampson is time signature 7/8 right. Just saw a few weird things online that it was 7/4 which makes no sense since you don’t hit the 8. They aren’t double timing or are they. And then can music really be exactly categorized by the English language or any linguistics? How do you even talk about music structure with jazz music. It’s all so confusing because everyone talks music differently. Dino said he called it one time around on like the terrapin penultimate jam. That makes sense. It’s one time around and back to the beginning structure then the deconstruction even though the beginning structure of the jam also degrades as they take it further. Do you just have to know each other and every band has a different language

on to the next. I think it would be fun to guess the best bust out next Revival!!! Allman bros. It’s a perfect song for the band. It’s what this music does to our soul. i did see a vid of bob weir playing helter skelter with McCartney. That would be epic to see Dso do in like in a mid 80’s other one with Healy taking that shit evil kind of style. I want to see cotter really do that mid 80’s delay that Dso Just won’t do at least on the level Healy did for a few years. There’s some weird shit that probably sent people running for minds sake. To keep the rant going we saw one of the 1st deadco shows when they were still normal tempo b4 they went slow in 2015 and during the west LA fadeaway I turned and walked to the back of the floor. SBD delay turned to 11 for like 30 secs. Was shaking my head b/c I was quickly leaving the planet in too crowded a spaceship.

It’s taken a few years but looks like things are getting back to normal. Pandemic baby changed our trajectory but still trying to get 15 a year which feels like nothing to us but to her coworkers it’s insanely excessive. She doesn’t tell them about the 26 month stretch with 9 flights, 100 Dso shows plus the jrad, deadco and 3 jazz fests in the mix. Sorta makes sense I got injured and never quite fully healed in that stretch. Fucking after party bands like 4 hours isn’t enough. Let’s see another dead band and dance 2 more hours. glad to see lots of you getting your fill last week and sounds like the band is on FIRE!!! And after the Woodstock bust out I’ve been playing CSN/Csny all morning. That band was a monster for 2 years. What if they got along.

Gonna try to pull 6 or so shows on fall tour so hopefully that should get us one in a filler.

!!!!!!! Saw a vid of them debut Woodstock laying in bed a min ago. Mei said what is this. Took me 5 secs as was verse 2 and I was like oh shit Woodstock!!!!!!! Epic!!! Great closer!!!! anyone have a vid of the whole song?? Heard Barraco doing verse 2. Who did verse 1 and 3? When we were living on tour I heard them do low spark 2 person space through full band instrumental like 10x thinking this is it 3-4x but missed the bust out. I was upset lol. I did get the love the one your with and Oh darling double bust out in Milwaukee. Very cool getting 1st time played stuff.

My source that John Mayer was making a surprise visit now says mechanical problems on his jet delayed him. We wish his jet a speedy recovery. Drink 2 gallons of water before walking out to your Uber for the sphere tonight. Luckily that place probably has literally the best AC unit known to mankind and it’s running LED vs hot stage lights.

We were thinking about doing Vegas, but we wanted an outside show being summertime. Vegas is such a beautiful spot for an outdoor show in the summer and the weather looks gorgeous. Remember it’s just a dry heat so it’s not that hot really. Great thing about Vegas in July is pretty much every hotel will comp you. I guess that’s why deadco’s shakedown is indoors. That’s gotta be a 1st. But you can get cancelled indoors but not really in a parking lot so gotta watch yourself. #metoo #keepthescenesafe #monetizethecancelholymoly #askingforconsentgetsyoutoo

Miss you too. do miss smaller crowds. Midwest usually has room to move. Never really talked at shows. Sometimes show 8 I’d grab some venue food and chat a bit but when tour was life things were different. I just want little man to get to a point he can do a show or 2 but he’d have a fit if we didn’t follow him on every whim. Not big on listening yet and he goes so hard all day he wants to sleep at night. We lost him at a Super Bowl party and found him in the hosts bed trying to go to sleep lol.

Assume you made it in. Don’t see many big dogs asking on here. CashorTrade has popped up to $50 a year for gold which made me cringe a bit but I owe those dudes for getting me into 2 impossible shows for big artists doing special super small capacity shows but Billy strings made it get too big with his partnership. Now everyone’s on it. Have about 40 trades and got several miracles on it with countless $20 tix with 80+ face.

hold up. You listen to the Grateful Dead? Thought you were a Swifty. But that’s another thing you can’t touch with a 10 foot pole or you will be cancelled quicker than Holy Moly. Too soon? I just assumed in today’s day and age you were supposed to ask for consent to have sex. Of course after a no then that’s it but just asking multiple people can end you now and god forbid you ask someone who has a boyfriend. You may never earn a living again!. But this is probably something else that shouldn’t be touched with a 10 foot pole.

well she didn’t make it to Woodstock so it was appropriately stolen. It’s well known you can only write about places you’ve been like Fennario but Hunter like usual won’t tell us where it is. And then you get these confusing places like Louisiana and then it may referencing a French area that stole its name from America. Not sure why Europe can’t come up with its own towns names. I mean Europe has had cities for almost 600 years, even before Jesus came to America with Joseph Smith and invented the railroad.

Woodstock by CSNY may be a top 10 song ever written but then again it stirs jubilee feelings. I hope Rob K wasn’t just wishful thinking when he said see you next year at Jubilee. Nelson ledges sounds amazing but July 4 weeks are locked in for us in perpetuity at the beach house. Speaking of that. I’ll be sunning and boss baby will be digging in the sand all day. The 20 large ankle breaking holes in my back yard are just practice for the malleable sand. I’m like buddy please stop digging holes in the yards. Worms daddy. Yeah I know.

Mei went to St. Louis tonight to see James Taylor with her sister. Was at setlist.fm and luckily he does 2 sets plus a triple encore for a total of around 2:20 of music. on that note he played Red Rocks June 2nd and 3rd. Exact same setlist each night. That just seems weird. I’m sure many saw both nights but likely didn’t care I guess. Her friends at work are like 3 straight nights you see a band. Yeah. They don’t play repeats over 10 hours of music in 3 days she retorts but they are confused about people going to 1 show wanting to hear the hits.

This was some of the stuff that made me tear up this morning. I remember a few years ago all our deadhead friends in KY were so excited that Bill Walton was an announcer for his 1st and only KY basketball game as he did PAC 10. We were so pumped to watch the game just to hear how off the rails he’d go. Dave Pasch was his 12 year announcing partner and just a brilliant play by play guy who had to reel Bill in a lot and also became a deadhead and would quote dead lyrics himself. He posted a bunch of funny tweets and screenshots bill sent him over the years and I linked them below. One video about bill made me cry again just now. bill kreutzmann There are incredible stories about Bill Walton that I promised him I would only tell after he passed away, and it's not nearly that time yet because before we laugh, first we must allow ourselves to cry. Darn it. This is a mournful day. This is a period of mourning. Sure, Bill Walton was an NBA legend. But in the Grateful Dead orbit, he was just a fan - and that made him a legend here, too. In many ways, he was our number one fan... but Bill would've taken issue with that ranking because, while he won many awards in his storied basketball career - including MVP — Bill insisted that the Grateful Dead was not a competition - and that all Deadheads were equal. By that same notion, as I flash through decades of adventures with him, there isn't one favorite memory. They all shine through. And they're all important, because they all brought us both real happiness. And that's special. That's friendship. Bill was a genuine fan that became a genuine friend and someone I always looked up to. But his towering presence was more than just literal. Whenever I play, there will now always be a hole where a seat should be, about ten rows back, center, where Bill used to stand, eyes closed, arms raised, while he felt the music running through him. That was a happy place for him and seeing him out there was one of mine. We never did have a hard time finding him in the crowd. Similarly, when he walked into a room, you knew it - but it wasn't because of his size. It was because of that laugh of his that broadcasted joy, and it was his easygoing smile that beamed sunshine across any space he ever entered. So, yeah, losing Bill is an irreplaceable loss and, in simple terms, I am heartbroken. When somebody means that much to you, when their friendship is that important - that's called love. I loved Bill Walton. As we say in the land of the Dead: May the four winds blow him safely home. Bob Weir Yo Bill, thanks for the ride. Thanks for the wonderful friendship, the years of color commentary - and the Hall of Fame existence that you wore like headlights. Bon voyage ol' buddy. We're sure gonna miss you - but don't let that slow you down... mickey hart Bill was my best friend, the best friend I ever had. He was an amazing person, singular, irreplaceable, giving, loving. His love for our music was beyond description. He called himself the luckiest man in the world but it was us who were lucky-to know him, to share the adventure with him. He was the biggest Deadhead in the world and used our music as the soundtrack to his life. After our shows, he would regularly send messages that said, "thank you for my life." Over 1000 shows, he just couldn't get enough. Bill had an incredible passion for drums. After any meal at his house, we would play. There was nothing like a Bill Walton... nothing. There are things you can replace. And others you cannot. Bon voyage, old friend, I love you. john mayer Bill Walton lived a life that the rest of us could only hope to achieve on our second (or third) go-round. He had an eye toward the truly important stuff, the stuff we already know better than to lose sight of, but often do. One of Bill's great talents was to reorient you so as to stand bedside him and see the light in life that he refused to break eye contact with. The climb to acceptance is steep in the Grateful Dead universe, and Bill gave me a huge lift up those stairs with his kindness, his encouragement, and his friendship. He will be so deeply missed, but his approach to life will never be forgotten. I think it's pretty good advice that when times get tough, everything will be okay if you just pretend to be Bill Walton. Thank you Bill. this is a vid Dave Pasch retweeted that pretty much sums up the type of person Bill Walton was. Couldn’t help but cry the last t-shirt “I survived 12 years working with bill walton and I’ll I got was this t-shirt” couldn’t be truer. Dave Pasch was like a cattle wrangler trying to keep bill in some games. On the blowouts he’d just let bill tell stories as that was probably the only thing that kept anyone watching. Bill would be like what’s the point of talking hoops. This games over. Now let me finish my story i have a video somewhere on my phone where bill was off the rails announcing a game and Dave said “maybe you had too much too fast” 😂

I read Mickey and Bill’s insta tributes to bill and literally started crying just now. Could be a few day post jubilee emotions involved but it was these happy tears that just kept flowing reading comments and stories of others below. The luckiest man in the world. I feel that way every time I’m at a show. I say “we are in the best place in the world at this moment” and to us it’s true. There’s nothing like a dead show and if it ain’t the real thing it’s close enough to pretend.

prob have seen this but it’s a good 3 minute watch. Whether this happened exactly like he told it may be questionable but it’s a story from years past and details are always fuzzy.

the last 2 years have been free of profiling. It wasn’t looking for hippie types. It was a spotter saying a green Subaru leaving the grounds is on the eastbound I-70. Ramp 5 minutes from your location. That’s how on a 3 lane road with lots of traffic they just happened to only pull over festival goers. Besides friends getting arrested year 1, our neighbors this year got arrested in 2015 over some herb and Sunday night like smart people they were offering everything left over to not drive with it. With weed legal now there, they can’t use the car smells like herb excuse anymore to empty out all your possessions on the side of the road like in the past but it’s still a smart play to not carry anything sans herb out. Some peeps got busted with $10 worth of stuff and had to travel back to Ohio for court. Definitely not worth risking turning your life upside down.

Had to delete my angry rant. I can’t get past it Every time I see the boarded up French door I get angry and I think it’s a nice but sketchy neighbor who knew I was gone but knew I was gone 40x before.
