Just saw a Facebook post that makes me believe somethings gonna happen before end of the year

Here’s the thing. DSO could schedule a 13 show tour over 16 days indoors but the economics likely aren’t there. How many will come to an indoor Indy show on a Tuesday right now? I just don’t think anything other than destination outdoor weekends makes fiscal sense right now and once it gets cold we are screwed.

New York is never in my plans. It sort of intimidates me with the thought of driving plus everything costs so much. It would be nice to see Vic up in Por Chess’ tuh.
-
These may be the last shows for a while. The sound at this venue is stellar even though the appearance is the complete opposite of park city. I’d suggest moving some plans around as there may be no more shows until Jamaica.

they said it was the 1st piece of my heart ever. Plus you got a 1st bring it on home with Kenny on vocals and he crushed it. It was a special show. They kept a pretense of security to keep people out of the seat area but you just needed to step over the rope. I was asked for my wristband and I’m like serious. So I just walked behind him 5 feet and stepped over the rope. Everyone filed down front and I know the band fed off that. This is such an outdoorsy area that everyone with getting down and enjoying it. So many families. The atmosphere was hard to beat bringing in food and drinks. It was special and I’ll cherish this one for a while.

Bravo!!! Amazing show at a gorgeous venue. Wow that 2nd set was meticulously crafted. When I heard that feelin groovy out of aiko I completely forgot it started with China. The Layla coda out of space was great. That low spark was a face melter. Large crowd. I’d guess over 2k peeps. They just kept flowing in all 1st set. Solid support from the region. Was as great an atmosphere as you can have. The energy was high. Perfect night weather wise too. My cup overfloweth. So many kind strangers at the show as well as seeing many friends and meeting new friends as well. I tell you what. Delilah can groove. Her momma put some moves in her. I am looking forward to being near sea level again. I feel like I did some Olympic Dead training at altitude. Now to show off my new training at these smoking fast deadco shows upcoming Saturday and Monday. Oh and btw the sound at deer valley was perfect all the way to the very back. Wasn’t a bad sound spot to be found. You can always count on Dso for perfect sound though so it’s sort of understood. Was fun seeing Scottie play night 1 after party but night 2 most of our crew came back and watched Georgia Clemson and popped in the hot tub which cleansed me. Killing time as I wait to Uber to the airport to get back to the family. I realized I have my best times when my little tour rat is near even though this weekend was fantastic with buddies. Plus she makes me look good and on my own my filter is off see you guys in Cincy in 3 weeks or maybe at a few deadco in between.

There was a large crowd. Was surprised at the number of peeps there and they were lined up coming in until 7. We didn’t know you can bring coolers with beer and booze. There was 1 person selling beer and the line went deep but people brought in cases of beer and pitchers of margaritas. Never saw a venue that let you bring it all in like that. Tonight we are prepared. By the end of the show the thousand or so who didn’t leave early were getting down. I’ve never seen such a fit crowd in my life. Everyone we talked to were hikers or bikers. They said that’s why you live here in the summer. Pretty sure I saw a few professional snowboarders there too. Tonight should be a blast. Security let anyone go in the seated area. By the end the crowd had packed up front. I know the band loves fans up close and we all got down.

Nice to meet you and hang out Joel and Dharmada. You guys made it later than me. I Pulled a cab at 12 and hit the sack. My body thanks me right now for that lol.

they generally say above 8k feet you start feeling the altitude. Venue looks to be around 6500 feet so shouldn’t be an issue.

Epic time with great friends. Utah then cincy. Gonna finish this mutha out!!

the start of set 2 was as fast a start as you can have. Easy wind is a fast dancer then put maybe the fastest Jerry tune in mystery train in the middle. I was gassed after that start. The 6pm start time was rough. Long travel day then 1st set trying to stay in the shade. I took it a bit easy. I usually try to get a week of cardio into each show and I got that week during the start of set 2 but also took some breaks. With limited shows, I’m not in the same shape I used to be getting 40+ shows a year so taking a break is nice for a few songs. The rocks were a pain. We may try the mulch tonight. I miss being able to have dinner before show with all our friends but the early start time makes it impossible but makes for a fun after party. See everyone tonight

My cincy buddy Danny is having his annual birthday show this weekend and hired Airshow to play his house this Saturday. 1 set of dead and a set of originals. 6-10pm lol. Same as Dso. So we are in a pickle.....

I wish. That would be a blast but it’s right after Asheville. We discussed the possibility of one of us doing it solo but decided to pass. Plus after going to The Stage on Bay in savannah a couple years ago, nothing can compete with the beauty of that venue and location. Picture gorgeous savannah and then the name the stage on bay which you would assume has a stage overlooking a marina with luxury yachts and palm trees all around you, and then picture no water near, a metal warehouse type venue surrounded by barbed wire fence because it’s in the projects with boarded up windows and a gas station next door with burned out cars that have been there for years and security walking the blocks of street parking because if they don’t you will get broken into guaranteed. Once you see heaven like that, the charms of a mountain town have very little pull.

yup. 4-2-89 all over then we can run. So my theory is debunked

Melvin and JGB with JK The Caverns, Pelham, TN 8/8/21 Setlist: I Feel Like Dynamite Run For The Roses Cats Under The Stars Tore Up Positively Fourth Street We Be Jammin' Rhapsody In Red Señor In The Midnight Hour -/- Ruben & Cherise > Eyes Of The World > Drum World > Hey Pocky Way Forever Young Midnight Moonlight Someday Baby Everybody Needs Somebody Deal had a blast doing an afternoon show in the caverns. Show was 4:30-7:30. Made it a semi easy up and back same day show which was perfect for us. Crowd was crazy high energy. Loud crowd. Like cover your ears after song loud. The cave makes for some echoey accoustics. Lots of space to groove. Saw 3 different groups of friends that do Dso shows. Always good to see friends. Saw a buddy we hadn’t seen in over 4 years from tour. They had this smoking area way up at the top in the 90 degree sun but with this crowd we stayed close to the mouth of the cave to enjoy the free A/C. It stays under 70 degrees about 50 feet from where you have sky above your head then walk another 10 feet and it’s 90. It would definitely be a cool camping spot in the middle of the summer. The security guy at the top of the hill said If there’s a low pressure front the natural A/C goes all the way up to the top. I was just thinking how much they save not having to buy a massive commercial HVAC system lol. That shit ain’t cheap lol. Thanks Doc for the tix. We wouldn’t have gone prob until a free pair of tix landed in our lap. Have to choose our escapes wisely to not overwhelm the biological babysitters.

Lol. I caught like a minute of the stream. Heard all over now and saw the Bean and was like gotta be like a 77 lol. That setlist is all over the place. Lol. Did any of these songs ever play back to back? Did Dino make a list where no songs had ever been played next to each other? without consulting the deadbase I’d guess maybe only Lucy and BTW had a shot to be next to each other and maybe Stella>jbg but that’s it. I’m going with not 1 song on this setlist was ever played by the dead next to any other song.

I bet you are right bro. 50 year shows will be on the docket I bet heavy next year unless the iota zeta variant turns us into goo and lets the cockroaches rule earth again.
-
It’s nice to see friends getting shows. Been a rough 16 months for music. The last year has been the year of the local tribute band but the death for the national touring acts. Things were looking up for a while and now shits getting stupid again.

3 show run at Brooklyn bowl. We could only do 1 but we were impressed for sure. He mandated vaccine cards for entry and masks if you were on the rail. No one besides the rail peeps wore a mask.

Phil and friends 7/29 Brooklyn bowl Nashville with Grahame Lesh, nicki bluhm, and the band Dawes. unfortunately even arriving an hour before show we see there’s a AA baseball game going on that’s connected to the venue. After 3 full parking lots we end up a half mile away. If you aren’t familiar with Nashville, the parking sucks and is expensive. We decided to bowl a game pre show. $40 later we pop into the concert area. This is such a super cool new complex (opened worst time ever 3/20). The sound was so bad we spent the 1st 20 minutes finding a place that you could actually hear the cymbals. Note it onlu holds 800 and prob 500 total were there. Hit the balcony about 10 feet from the hanging PA ang we achieved liftoff. Crystal clean sound. The 1st set we were just getting our feet under us. At setbreaj we went outside to the smoking area deck. It overlooks the baseball stadium. Watched 20 minutes of baseball and headed back in. The security guard next to me said he was tired of telling people to quit smoking weed and had given up. I’m like you do know this is a dead crowd right. He said cops could come in and we are a new venue. I’m like none of that is happening bro. Set 2 starts and we take our spot 10 feet from the PA. 2nd somg comes unbroken chain. Holy shit they took the middle jam and played with that funky dance beat for 8+ minutes. I was drenched keeping that pace. 2nd set was so so good. This Dawes guy sang one of the most beautiful Stella’s I’ve ever heard. He had this angelic voice. Most of the songs were sung by Nicki bluhm and she delivered. Had a blast. Blown away. Besides a hiccup here ang there you wouldn’t have known this band hadn’t been together for a while. We had a great 2 hour drive home post show basking in the light of that performance. I was so in the now I didn’t take 1 pic of Phil lol. The next day I’m like wtf was wrong with you not getting 1 pic of phil.

The debate is scheduled for 4pm that Saturday. We have a panel of 3 moderators. Each of you will have 90 seconds on your question then the other will have a 30 second rebuttal period. Be prepared for a 90 minute debate. The moderators will all be freshly prepped on the 2 shows in question. If either of you pull a “Sir, you are no__________” you will be penalized.
