Of course it’s great being 6-1. FPI has ND at 15th and cincy at 9th. Anyone in top 25 FPI can beat anyone not top 3 any given week. My only cincy point is the only top 40 team they play all year is ND. So is it fair they make a playoff vs say a Texas A&M who plays 7 top 25. The playoff needs to expand. In basketball it doesn’t matter if you are rank 3 or rank 30. You get a shot to prove you are the best. The SEC is refusing the 8 team playoff format especially adding Texas and Oklahoma. It would give 1 spot to all 5 conferences, 1 to an independent/mid major. That’s no good for a conference where you have so many teams that will beat up on each other because of the consolidation of top talent and now it’s about to get even worse. You are looking at half the top 25 recruiting classes all in 1 conference and yes teams with better talent beat up on ones with less. It’s why Ohio state dominates the big 10 now. It’s not great coaching. They have underperformed several years recently with talent second only to Alabama but they still rule the conference.

Cincinnati has less 4 star players on their team than Kentucky recruited just last year. Cincinnati’s 2019 recruiting class was rank 89. They had only a handful of 3* players. If you battle teams with talent and you lack talent, eventually you will lose.....unless your only game with a top 50 ranked team is notre dame whos not that good. When you list Indiana as one of your hardest games, your schedule is garbage. Michigan vs Ohio state will determine who wins the big 10. Iowa won’t be competition for either of those. That big 10 west is trash. Michigan state is a product of a really bad schedule. I wouldn’t doubt they lose 3 games this year, but penn state has fallen apart after that Iowa game they had handled until they lost their QB. He’s back but he’s not the same. You don’t lose to Illinois and score only 10pts in regulation vs a team like that.

see what I’m saying about sec on cbs. Perv producers. Between every play they find a girl with cleavage to show. At the Georgia game they featured a chick with intentional underboob showing. Put the ball at the 2. At the 3 is too much for 2 inept offensive teams. for such a horrible day on paper, 2 bottom 10 fpi teams in navy and Kansas almost upset 2 “top 5” teams. Oklahoma has looked bad all year. Cincy showed how a team who’s highest ranked recruiting class in at rank 39 can’t be consistent enough to battle the top teams or Georgia, Alabama and Ohio state. the FPI has Georgia, Bama and ohio state at least 7-10 point favorites over everyone else. Those 3 teams are head and shoulders above the rest of football. Oklahoma was a 40pt favorite over lowly Kansas and almost lost. There was a point where Michigan, Oklahoma, penn state and Cincinnati’s total points scored was less than navy, Kansas, Illinois and northwestern combined.

Sock cap and coat weather. I like a bundled up show. If you know in advance just put a thermal layer and get your groove on and be warm. When I was young I never prepared. I’d have a t-shirt on when 45. Now have nice thermal gear(smart investment) and ready for bad weather. Jubilee 2 fucked me up. I swore I’d never be unprepared like that again. That was brutal. I thought I’d never warm up. Took an hour in a 0 degree bag mummified to warm up the night 1. Had every layer of clothes I had on me on.

Perfect weekend for shows if there were any. Worst college games ever and I mean maybe ever. Pure trash mashups. Clemson and Pitt May be the best game. That’s just sad. Homecoming/bye week. Ugh. Every good team is playing the worst team. Michigan v northwestern. Blah. Penn state v Illinois. Ewww. Oklahoma v Kansas. Wtf. Cincinnati v navy. Ohio state v Indians. All time worst week ever. Bama v tennessee is compelling b/c tennessee will keep it within 14. That’s the good game....... bad bad week of college football.

I remember we skipped that show. It was over $50 a ticket and last night of jazz fest(after eating at Felix’s every other meal and going WAY over budget, $100 was a chunk). We decided to hit blue nile on the cheap and call it an early night. I think we had to be up at 7am to get you to Memphis airport the next day and Whitney back to our neck of the woods. Made that drive all the way home without getting tired. I think that year 1 of jazz fest blew my mind with all the options and how fucking amazing it is that there was no getting tired on the drive. It was like a post show glow but bigger. Each year after that we kept adding more days until fucking covid wrecked it. After 8 days I fell out in 2019. Literally peeps had to hold me up. My liver said let’s get the fuck out of here. 8 days of nola living like a rock star was too much. I remember Barraco saying on stage in 2017 something like if you stay more than a few days down here this place will kill you. It’s jubilee with better food and a bed. FYI that may have been when you fell in love with Whitney but think she was a bit behind you on that from her convo with meili on the way home 😜. All worked out though.

Does anyone really have anything other than bits or pieces of memories from 30yrs ago. I have little flashes of memories from back then but no real memories. I’ve noticed with the gf taking pictures, they seem to reinforce memories if we look back on them. During early covid lockdown we went through all the pics and vids from shows and feats over 6 years. They triggered the memories I had forgotten and seemed to solidify them. Of course very little pictures were taken in the heat of the night as we were in the moment. Maybe 1 jazz fest pic after 2am even though then til dawn was the peak action lol. I always complain when I’m forced to pose for a pic but a few years later I see that pic and am glad it was taken. The general rule is I have to pose for 1 couple pic every show. After that my photo duties are over. It feels like torture but I do it.

2 people fell over the rail at different times at the Phish show in San Fran. 1 died. The other fell over the rail and landed on someone and both went to the hospital. Wow.
-
Heard a rumor if phish cancels and doesn’t play Madison Square Garden that Dso may. Just a rumor. Lots of variables involved. Kyrie won’t be there though. $180mil wasn’t enough money for him to come off his flat earth theory. How can we trust astronauts. We know the moon landing was faked. The whole thing was done in a super secret sound studio at Warner Brothers. Why are they trying to hide that the earth is flat. What is the government up to. Is the entire New world order behind it?
-
This is the kind of tour I’d have loved to see Dso on. Town to town Midwest tour lol. Unfortunately they are doing the same show every night playing their live 1977 compilation Waiting for Columbus “front to back”. So same order, same show every night. Not sure I’d want to do 2 straight in Nashville same show. But I’ll catch 1 If this was Dso in 2019, I’d be catching the 1st 15 that’s one of my favorite live albums because the sound quality is so amazing. Everything is so perfect in that recording. If anyone hasn’t heard that album, put it on. It’s crystal. The bass is so clear. It really gives you the spatial feel of a live show. Sounds like a Betty board

If anyone is wondering what the spread is going to be on games, use the FPI ranking. Every team has a number. For example Georgia is rank 1 with 28.8. Kentucky is rank 32 with an FPI of 7.9. Georgia would be a 21 favorite on neutral field. They were a 22.5 favorite at home. Georgia, Alabama and Ohio state are 123. Iowa is rank 18 and would be around an 11 point underdog to Ohio state. Sandiego state, UTSA and SMU are 22,24 and 21 in the AP but are 63,59 and rank 40 in the FPI. They would be 6-10pt underdogs to tennessee. It’s a pretty cool tool if you want to figure spreads. It’s pretty much within 3 points of Vegas point spreads. Here’s the link if you are curious. https://www.espn.com/college-football/fpi

If we do any will just be Ft lauderdale. Southwest flies direct from Nashville which is sweet. Don’t want to have to rent a car to get north for 1 show so 2 would work anyway. actually these weekend type getaways are perfect for us currently. Flights begin to sting after a bit but hey.

I just assume it’s because everyone had a baby during lockdown

Was looking at Dso Facebook and the post announcing Atlanta and Florida. Half the posts are why won’t you play Seattle, New Hampshire, Nashville, other Florida cities etc. Then there’s an idiot saying how much money are you paying the dead to play their music. Umm dude the venues have an ASCAP license to play music. When I worked radio we had to log every song played so ASCAP could assign royalties but bars and clubs generally pay a licensing fee where they don’t to track every song played. Imagine if every cover band in the land had to write a check for $1 or whatever to every band they covered a song of. Then add in the I won’t go to a venue that requires a vax or won’t go to one that doesn’t require one and then a few I won’t see Dso because they played an elective set early this year and that pretty much covers the comment section. It’s also clear people don’t realize DSO isn’t doing traditional tours. Seems many are holding out hope that there’s a winter northwest full Tour which I seriously doubt. Guessing weekend gigs are the new norm until at least next spring. Curious how attendance would be weekdays if they did a 13 show tour like days of old. Would people show up for indoor shows? When I saw Phil at Brooklyn bowl indoors a bit ago, it was half sold. Nashville isn’t a good dead town so not sure if that’s a good barometer.

Weird this show wasn’t ever a main post or even listed on their tour page and tickets are already on sale. Strange.

I looked up cincinatti’s recruiting on rivals. Of the last 4 classes the top one was rank 39. They had an 89 ranked class that was mostly 2 star players. A good coached team can play way above their heads but when teams like Ohio state, Bama, Georgia play you, the speed can be too much. I think Ohio state is going to run the table in the big 10 and get in as a 3 seed. I don’t see how Iowa’s offense can score enough to beat Ohio state. I think cincy will get in as a 4 seed and play Georgia game 1 and Ridder will need the game of his life to keep it close. Lots to be played though. All Kentucky needs to do is beat Georgia, an upstart tennessee And Alabama and they get the 1 seed. Very doable 😂
-
The games have to be played of course. Just looking where the money is being laid. I think at this point Ohio State is the only team that would scare me if I was Georgia. They have the talent to compete. Teams with offensive lines that are future accountants will be destroyed by that front 4 who will be in need of good accountants.

The Irish are looking at 100-1 odds to win it all which means they won’t get in. Right now the odds to win it all are Georgia 7/5 Bama 2/1 osu 9-1 oklahoma 14-1 iowa 20-1 cincy 25-1 michigan 30-1 oregon 50-1 based on this, Oregon is a longshoreman to make it to the playoff. oh and the money line on Kentucky vs Georgia is KY +1100. Georgia -2000. Thats extremely high lol.

We found some floor rear GA Tix for 100 but when we went to get our floor bands I offer the 2 wristband girls $50 to give us the Pit 1 front pit wristbands. They had already banded meili and the girl quickly rips her GA band off and gives us both pit 1 and I slipped them a $50 total. Those tix were $600 each lol. We had a fantastic 2 hours up front. The only issue is I was expecting a set break instead of 1 2-hour set. It would have been nice to sit and chill for a bit and enjoy the perfect night around 73 degrees and reflect on the set and enjoy the atmosphere with 50k peeps there. And on the way in we had the south lot right next to where we had to enter just by luck. So we walked 200 feet to the entrance and were in. Pretty charmed night. Popped the 2 hour ride home like a champ and crashed like a champ lol. We were stuck in the lot leaving the show for 45 minutes. Most knew no point getting in line so popped some Jerry band and smoked and hung with peeps in the lot. Was a different crowd. We were dancing harder than anyone else and wasn’t even close. Mostly a head Bob or a chick dancing a bit. Their crew was videotaping me too which I don’t like but We were only ones in the pit getting down. There was tons of room if you weren’t crammed up 5 feet from the stage which she did a few times to get some great action shots of mick. I mean he’s so animated, every other picture looks like a professional caught the perfect moment because he gives you poses and animation constantly. Was definitely a blast. Will probably be the last time though. They did a nice Charlie video tribute before the show started which was cool.

Oregon has a bad loss to Stanford and really not much the rest of the way that’s a roadblock or can show the committee they beat another good team. Ohio state has many chances to improve its stock and at 1 loss they get in over Oregon even with Oregon winning head to head assuming osu doesn’t play scrubs to 1 score games and handily takes care of them. Cincy has had a great little run, but would they be a playoff team If in SEC west? That’s a division that is cannibalising itself. There’s so much talent in that division. UK is lucky theY are in the East with a much easier road to a decent bowl. 61 years since UK started 6-0 but most of those years are because of Florida and Georgia and with Georgia next week we’d need a miracle. But holy shit we’d likely win the SEC East if we beat Georgia. I can dream right lol.

Penn state was dominating until they lost their QB. The replacement was garbage. 2 ints and 36 passing yards. Eww. Iowa got away with one. Georgia’s defense continues to dominate. Their number 1 2018 recruiting class with 8 5 star players is why that defense is so good. They still have 5 of those 5* guys starting their senior year. That front 4 is fantastic. UK a surprising 6-0. They are probably equivalent of Iowa but no where near a legit playoff team and at Georgia next week the fantasy comes to an end. UK has been feeding 1st and 2nd round defenders to the pros the last few years and this defense looks pretty good. The offense is going to have a rough time vs Georgia next week. texas A&m’s pro talent finally showed up. 3 straight rank 6 recruiting classes but Jimbo wasn’t getting the talent to do what it should. They put Bama in a hole early and even when Bama took the lead their defense couldn’t hold. This is why Georgia was number 1 FPI. That D line plus a few LB’s are all going pro and Kirby is the best defensive coach in the country. Oklahoma dashed a bit of Cincinnati’s playoff hopes yesterday with that comeback. Cincy needed Texas to hold that lead. Oklahoma is a horrible defensive team. Big play after big play. Big 12 can recruit offense but they don’t get the elite defenders. I mean why would any top defender go to teams that allow 50 a game. Ohio state is finally getting it together a bit and getting the the ball to the NFL guys. Feed the talent. Ohio state can win out and get playoff. If Bama wins out and beats Georgia in the championship they will get in along with Georgia. Then if Oklahoma wins out too, cincy will miss the playoffs. I’m going with Georgia, Ohio state, Oklahoma and Cincy as the 1-4.
