Directv is about to go on vacation mode until end of august when football season starts. I do it every year and they try to retain me. I say I’m going to Europe for 5 months. They are like but you can watch your programming on your phone. I’m like no Internet where I’m going. But since you have AT&T, you can use unlimited data streaming from the Directv app. Well just cancel me forever then. Ok Sir I have you set for vacation mode. What’s funny is Boss baby grabbed the remote and purchased, not rented, dune. I called 3 minutes after and they said sorry we can’t refund you bevause it’s a purchase not a rental. I said then send me to the cancel my service department. They did and those guys credited me the $30 purchase. I also do that on my SiriusXM. They will keep giving you the 6 months for $30 if you threaten to cancel as opposed to the $20 a month.

Maybe it was it a tad over the top linking him with the Ukraine war and fentanyl deaths?

WOW. What a game. Screw Duke. Adios Coach K. Fans won’t forget how you advocated for dirty players like Laettner to use all their dirty tricks before replay got involved to beat the kind Wildcats team. The hot mic where you said punch every UK player in the balls will not be forgotten. Heard that Duke’s chemistry department at the urging of Coach K tried to develop an aerosol Fentanyl spray to be delivered to opponents. That same tech that Coach K advocated for has led to the OD deaths of thousands including a cancelled penns peak dso show. That was directly tied to coach K. Coach K is why the Russians invaded Ukraine. His anti western thoughts made Putin believe that all of America hated Americans values, but nope. Only Coach K hates America.

Happy after so many cancellations you finally got a show doc!!! Glad your health is cooperating and not fucking you out of shows!!!

We got teased with sun and near 70 degrees during the day before the bottom fell out at night. I was such a rookie I didn’t pop in the car to drive to Walmart to get a sock cap. After that weekend, if the temp is under 60 I’m wearing a sock cap to stay comfy. I had a hoodie which isn’t slightly similar to the protection a cap gives you plus 4 t-shirts and 1 long sleeve tee under it. To recap my total clothing for that jubilee was a hoodie, 1 long sleeve tee and 4 tees and I had all of them on and i couldn’t stay warm at night. After dso played I jumped in the sleeping bag and never left until the next morning. Now I bring thermals. As soon as dso finishes if it’s 55 or under I change into them plus coat and hat so I’m good to go regardless of the weather. Then we got that gorgeous 2014 jubilee. 75/55 highs and lows. My ideal is 72/48 for better night sleeping, but not getting under 55 until midnight. Omg am I that progressive commercial turning into my grandfather. He’s 95 yes old and will be like it’s going to hit 70 around 11:30 on Saturday with mostly sunny skies, but it’s going to be a bit windy but the wind will die down around 4:00.

did anyone go past the ridge line amd camp in the bowl? I don’t think anyone put tents there. I was under the trees right across the path and no water came past me. Shade was important being Labor Day. The field would have been really hot that Friday. Plus with no one there peeps camped as close to their cars as possible. you’re wife played year 1 and 2 didn’t she? Maybe even year 3 too?

If DSO decided to cancel a show 4 days before because they wanted to go see a basketball game, I’d be sooo pissed. Can’t believe that Eric Church cancelled an arena sold out show to go see a basketball game. Screwing 12k people last second to go see a game. Don’t schedule a show during the final 4 if there’s a shot your teams in it. This is one of the craziest things I’ve seen. https://variety.com/2022/music/news/eric-church-cancels-concert-ncaa-game-unc-san-antonio-1235218562/amp/

Notice: If anyone makes fun of my Alopecia I can now legally slap you. Plus with my tall stature showing my small bald spot in jubilee videos as I stick out, if they are not edited to add hair, I can also slap you, but this is only for future videos as the statute of limitations has expired for old vids.

hurricane jubilee. As many vendors as people. I remember the fest offering all hurricane jubilee vendors half off the 2013 jubilee. One vendor for breakfast said I’ll make as many eggs and bacon as you want included in the standard breakfast since he said the food was going to go bad. Only disco pizza had any customers. Seems strange now since it generally sells out but that place was a ghost town come Sunday night. I now know so many people who were there that year. If I could travel back in time I’d probably know 10%+ of the attendees lol. There were maybe 150 people down by the stage night 3 if that many. I know a lot of people near us packed up and left b/c their tent was flooded. Heard one woman tell her man we are going to a hotel or going home. Not sure what their final decision was. I didn’t wake up early enough Saturday to see the 4 feet of water or whatever it was under the stage. There was a conspiracy theory that an employee or crew of someone blew up a mattress under the main stage to sleep (back then it wasn’t a permanent stage) and that the mattress blocked the drain. That wouldn’t make a lot of sense since the mattress would have floated away the second he got off it to swim for his life, but it evidently the river created by the 5” of rain made the stage unsafe to play on almost cancelling the whole event. Luckily it continued and it was a great time!!!

Sold out show. Happy for the band. There was no getting to the floor. Was oppressively packed. The crowd was full of vigor. Greg Allman finally got his revenge on barraco for abusing his antique piano bench. Who knew playing the keys could be so dangerous. Luckily Rob B didn’t break a hip. It may be time to get one of those life alert systems in case you have another bench malfunction while at home playing. What’s weird is it wasn’t some antique bench. It looked like a modern professional folding one and it straight up broke and looked like was replaced by a drummers stool. Looked like it stung. We were oh shit he left the stage. We started asking who up in the balcony could play accordion and switch to Bruce style original. All kidding aside, we had a great run and got to get a break for the 1st time in a while and see 3 fantastic shows. Sort of rare to get 2 originals in a 3 show run, but to be honest we were prob the only ones who did all 3 of those. We met several who had been on tour for a while. I’m like cool did you do cincy. No man. That’s a haul. The only longer drive I can remember with no day off was Minnesota zoo to St. Louis for a 6pm St. Louis show. Needless to say I think no one attempted that combo in 2019. Meili tried to explain to a coworker why she was seeing the same band 3 straight nights. They will do completely different shows and songs all 3 nights. Yeah but they will play their hits every night right? So do people get mad if they don’t play their famous songs? It’s sort of funny trying to explain this scene and music. The dead had no hits but every song was a hit with a few exclusions like samba in the rain and dso ain’t busting that crap out. cheers DSO. See you guys at Jubilee.

We saw Melvin and JK there last summer. It’s a real cave that holds around 1k peeps. Sort of low ceiling. Cotter will have a fit trying to get the sound right. It’s always a perfect show temp of 58 degrees. No clue about camping as that’s new.

Reagan is like 2 miles from the venue. I don’t think it will be an issue. Plus they are mostly doing about 2 hours of driving and read it’s not that big an issue. That poor peoples convoy. 1st the Ukraine war took over the news. Then they are protesting things that are pretty much nonexistent. Isn’t it more of the election was stolen and stop CRT issue now lol. Let’s protest high gas prices by driving a Semi in loops. That will fix it!!! Now there’s evidently a covid outbreak among them and several have been hospitalized and have to wear a mask. I sorta feel sorry for them like the QAnon people who went to Dallas for JFK to show up. Those poor 200 peeps showed up for nothing. My pillow kept letting them down for months and now all this. If that pizza parlor didn’t get rid of their basement where all the child slaves were hidden, the whole case would have been cracked a long time ado.
-
Luckily we are flying into Reagan so won’t be an issue. If they decide to convoy the Wharf then there’s an issue.

Saw a happy pic of you guys. Hope to see you down the road. Are you or Sammie doing DC?

Last night I was told we were doing this tour, but reasonable heads prevailed. Not leaving a 20 month old for 2 weeks. The way to do it is not doing all the shows. I’d do 4-5 shows to get some show excitement but enjoy Europe. That schedule would be ultra exhausting if you do it all and I’m sure several will or at least will try. I want to eat good food and not be rushed. I don’t even know if restaurants are open early enough to eat nice before a show. We ate at 10p every night in Spain. I don’t think those places even opened until around 8. my fantasy itinerary would be Fly to London 9/11 9/11-9/13 London. See London show 9/14-9/17 Paris. See Paris show 9/18-9/23 Travel to Italy and explore. See Milan Show 9/24 go to Florence. See Florence show 9/25 Fly home. I’ve been to Germany. If skipping a section, that’s the one I’d do. I love Spain. It’s so chill there. Pretty much everything is decriminalized there. It would take an extra travel day to go that far south so on my fantasy itinerary, I had to leave it off. Any place on the Riviera, be it France, Italy or Spain would be so much fun to go to.

Unfortunately it’s the last 8 shows over 9 days. Can’t really do anything besides hop a train, check in, eat dinner and see a show. Rinse repeat. The dead did like 3 shows a week on their Europe tours. I get that it’s expensive for the band so they gotta knock it out but that’s a lot of train action. We’d have prob done it a few years ago though. It’s technically a Europe tour but you will see about as much of Europe as you do any city in an American tour. 15 day Eurail pass $341

Here’s an idea how many bands are playing at the same time at different venues. Saturday 4/30. All of these shows are a 9-10pm start time at different venues Ween Lettuce Greensky Bluegrass Voodoo dead Dumpstaphunk New Orleans Suspects (Little Feat) dirty dozen brass band note that 40% of clubs haven’t yet announced their schedule. That’s how nutty it is during Jazz fest. In 2018 or 19 Phil and friends was at same time as JRAD and Oteill and friends. There were literally 3 dead bands playing at the same time one night. It makes it tough to make decisions. Our 1st jazz fest was 2017 when DSO played 2 nights. Across the street Govt Mule was playing. That was before I knew about the grid site. I thought it was weird dso and govt mule were playing same time and had no idea that was just the tip of the iceberg. It’s really hard to sell out the big theaters because there’s too much at once so the small clubs make the most sense. You play jazz fest to have fun, not make money. For most bands it may pay for your hotel and a little food, but you probably aren’t leaving with a chunk of money. If you ever want to check it out, I suggest paying the extra money for an Airbnb right off Frenchman St. Being within a couple blocks of all those clubs makes it easy. We stayed in a super cute place with a courtyard that was literally 300 feet from Blue Nile and dba. If you can tell, I’m pining for the next time I get to go. It’s just that much fun!!!

I can’t seem to find where I saw this posted but Mattson, Eaton, Lisa and Skip are playing 2 after party shows this year. Since I can’t seem seem to find it I forget the rest of the lineup. We saw them in 2019 and they put on almost a 5 hour show each night. Was a lot of fun. Meili wants to go but no way we can get away 3 long weekends in May this year. Jazz Fest is the best time on the planet. If you can get away I highly suggest hitting 4-8 days down there. There’s 1-3 dead bands every night plus all sorts of all star collaborations. You get to eat at the best Oyster restaurant on the planet, Felix’s as well as hundreds of other great places. Music is 10a-5am every night and the 2a-5a bands are the wild collaborations. Besides the 1 day of doing actual Jazz fest which is like 11a-7p seeing Panic and lots more we mostly stuck to the 9-1a and 2a-5a schedule. here’s jazz fest grids. It will be updated a lot more but you get an idea. These will be completely filled in a few weeks. http://www.jazzfestgrids.com/second_weekend/

Saw JRAD at the pageant. I like these guys besides their sound. I was trying to figure out how best to describe what comes out of the PA. When they are all shredding, it becomes one sound. You can’t hear the cymbals or drums hardly at all. It’s like a muddled loud sound. It’s like turning up a bad stereo way past the level you should. Think about when you go to an arena and walk towards the bathroom. You can still hear music but it’s all muddled. But that’s the sound dead center in front of the PA. At my 1st JRAD show I kept asking people what’s wrong with the sound. I thought it was the venue. But every show is like that. Listening to dead and Dso the cymbals and high hats are all crystal clear. It’s like a stereo just just mids and no clean highs. Part of this is the sound delay they use constantly. It’s like creating an arena sound in a theater but in the part of the arena where the sound bounces everywhere. Every time I see them I get annoyed that this is the sound they are going for. I don’t get it. They do tons of cool shit but I want my music clear and clean. On that note, they started jamming Jessica in set 2. Thought it would be a minute then maybe 2 minute jam into a dead song. Nope. They raged a 10 minute full Jessica by the Allmans. Of course with their sound it’s hard to get the tiny details but it was rip roaring and got by far the biggest ovation of the night and how can you not want to hear that song. It’s such an epic fun happy jam that makes me think of sunny warm days. set 1 Row Jimmy music never stopped sugaree Dancin(had been teased since MNS) franklins set 2 Black throated wind jessIca it hurts me too eyes minglewood morning dew E: Sampson. 12 song show. A bit short time wise. Started at 8:15. 40 minute set break and ended at 11:20. Miss my 4 hour dso show

That’s my house to yours plus a bit of driving. Do the caverns then Memphis instead. They never play Memphis. 1st time venues always excite me.

Check out this Cumberland big River mashup in set 2. 18 minutes of insanity. It does have a long run up which confused the crap out of me. We were at jazz fest this year and this was just a tiny piece of an epic time. note all of their shows on nugs are Free mp3 downloads so you can listen free https://www.nugs.net/live-download-of-joe-russos-almost-dead-mardi-gras-world-new-orleans-la-05-05-2018-mp3-flac-or-online-music-streaming/19989.html

Ok. There were some come to jersey, lots of penns peak anger. Come to Seattle so was a bit off on Oregon prediction. Come to Georgia which they did 2 nights of 3 months ago. Come to cali which they just did and are doing with the skull and roses again. evidently many won’t pop an hour drive and demand a true local show. I’m going to start spamming “Come back to Paducah”. And yes they were like the 3rd show at our badass 3k seat performing arts center. But the bands that thrive here are 70s bands who had 1-4 songs. America, Boston and the like. If you were a 3 hit wonder, you will sell out The Carson Center.

that would be weird. Have to assume it’s the bands. I didn’t even know there was a Mac song named that. Considering the dead covered the band and played with the band id say it’s a 99.9 shot of the bands version lol.
