  1. Fun, fun, fun roar the roses
  2. Enjoy night 2 now that you know what you're getting into🙂⚡👀🔥
  3. "Welcome to the camp. I guess you all know why we're here. My name is Tommy and I became aware this year. If you want to be like me, you'll have to play pinball. So put on your eye shades, put in your ear plugs, you know where to put the cork"
  4. Check all four of them out, they blend the four instruments nicely upping the ante with every show. Lyrics are enunciated where you can get the story and meaning of each song. Billy has respect for jg and all the others who have come before. His own material is relevant to life today. All four are at the top of their game right now. DSO setlists and I'm sure musicianship is at an all time high from the reviews everyone has been providing. It only makes sense Jeff would be with Melvin for Jamaica shows. He was blowing my mind when he was with the tricksters back at the ledges. Travellers take care for the upcoming tours. Have fun!
  5. Joining in with mixlr. Between set music is crispy. Hope it fills your cup for the time you spent getting in and getting out. What's the venue like? I've been lucky to hit some sweet spots. Be interesting to read your take. Sounded like he wanted to dark star in first set, but don't see how he can with the time available and huge catalog to cover. I think they're all first rate musicians. From what I've read of your travels and shows with DSO, legit audience member and thanks for contributing to the forum. Between mixlr and forum, life is still engaging. I gave up when Jerry passed. A dear friend went to the desert and never returned. Life can be crushing but there is times of exploration and Strings keeps it alive for me. Nelson ledges was as close to an Oakland parking lot when I was in my 20's . Everyone here on the forum helps break the daily grind, thanks to all
  6. all kinds of repetition throughout dead history that's why 84-86 was so fun, and of course getting to jerry band shows
  7. Thanks DD, unfortunately I had to work until 9 tonight, there's a really good set from 7/20/19 up on relisten.net/billy-strings, mostly all Doc Watson tunes, William solo, Beaumont Rag to open, then a nice John Henry with verses I've never heard, interesting stuff.
  8. Good planning, the tour is selling out, esp in a high culture area like DC. Atlanta's sold out, Halloween is next. Taking water has some lyrics worth paying attention to. We got Whimmeydoodle coming up with Del McCoury band on the same night. Sure to be some collaboration. You'll have fun cause it's a really nice and colorful, fun group of people that attend the shows
  9. Watch "Mary Tyler Moore ~ Grateful Dead Dancing Ep. 2" on YouTube "I can't do it. I'm just a housewife"
  10. live leads to an unprecedented appreciation of the workings of the acoustic instruments of bluegrass. Jarrod, Royal and Billy compliment William's extreme flatpicking dexterity and pedal exploration. His catalog keeps the intrigue ongoing. His humility keeps it all real. Get in the pasture while you can, it's still intimate and cost effective. Who knows what song is going to show up at the next one?
  11. I found out about the holy schoeps up at the wonderland in 1987
  12. We got dosed hard last night in the pasture with the other goats. First set, 75 minutes with a Pretty Daughter early in the set and a nice version of Been All around this world. Royal is getting near Kahn territory with his bass interactions with Billy, very reminiscent of Jerry and John collaborations. Second set went from 10:30 to midnight because of the double encore of a 17 minute Meet Me At The Creek, opened up a new plane of consciousness, incredible to lay that out after what seemed already like a complete show. Deal is getting really, really close to the exploration and rounding of repeating leads that Jerry latched on to to whip everyone into a feeding frenzy. Sorry to have missed DSO, I really wanted to get in a show but String's tickets went on sale and I had tunnel vision. He just keeps getting better with each experience. Red Rocking Chair has a whole new intro than what he had been building.
  13. I'm not getting on the plane, I'm getting in the plane, you can get on it, but I'll be inside where I feel it's a little bit safer.. thank you very much
  14. Just added 40 shows through 11/23/19 ending up at the Madison in Covington. New album "'Home" coming out 9/27 when he is doing two shows in Portland, clips reveal he's getting into some psychedelic electric guitar work. Halloween is in Asheville this year. After last year's Halloween shinanagins in Seattle, this might be the show to be at, it flows right into a two night stand in Carraboro, NC. Next year he's going international, so get em in while you can!
  15. You got the goods. Tinfoil and Turmoil and a Meet Me at The Creek are quintessential for a solid Strings experience. Maybe someday the Playin' will materialize but for now it's a thread that runs in and out of the garden. He's been tripping the sounds pretty hard lately, still backing with solid fretwork. I believe it's only going to get better. You got ROMP coming up and a festival in Louisville called Railbird. I really wanted to hit Annies for DSO this summer, but that's also my only chance to get Strung out. Such is the quandary of life, nothing comes for free, there seems to always be a give and take, and not always an easy choice as the years start growing behind us.
  16. Did the 80's seperation begin with the legendary Friday the 13th 1984 Greek scarlet touch fire with the dark star encore?

BMR has been making the rounds a lot in the bluegrass scene the past few years. A fire alarm where it happened, in HOTW, seems like a place where the band couldn't have planned it better and Tea had community posted "let it burn, let it burn". Think things are aligning with this tour?, esp starting out with a Quinn? Have fun everyone
  18. I Can almost guarantee the summer Cincinnati show is going to be a summer 85 or the second night of Red Rocks 83 leading up to the third at Red Rocks 1983
  19. Cincy has doors at 4:30 and a 6pm show time. Wonder if that means big, long show or early evening out? With Sylvania, there's front row center tickets still available for this Sunday show.
  20. You got a great show, sorry I missed this one. Cats has one of my favorite Melvin parts, along with prudence. Both have tremendous keys. Funny , I didn't go, but woke up this morning feeling a need to play guitar and the first song that showed up for me was tangled up and I hadn't been playing it for a while now. Ran through it twice just to get it right before it got shelved again. Mostly playing originals now and wild horses (for some strange reason, maybe because it's easy) thanks for the list duck!
  21. Thank you! Sometimes, maybe, warm up bands should play after for those that want to keep going. When they open it can make for a long night standing on the concrete dance floor
  22. Live Dead '69 is at Bogart's Saturday night here in cincy. Dud you see them yet duck?

  24. just saying "there won't be any mention in the news of the world about the life and times of a red dirt girl, at least not for lilian, who never got any further than across the lines of meridian....
  25. Yeah and if the song played was actually Red Dirt Girl (and not Read Dirt Girl), it is one of Emmylou's masterpieces which deserves a correct notation/spelling. Thanks for posting the list though. It's nice to see what's being played. gotta run, here comes the boss
