Back in summer of 1994 as I was trying to put together an emmylou and the Nash ramblers tour. There was no grateful dead hotline so I contacted her management group Monty Hitchcock productions. They sent me two pages of itinerary. They must of thought i was looking to book because the sheets had all kinds of info including prices to contract. $14,000 listed. That was 1994. Post Covid 2022 could be something like $25,000. I don't think we're going to get Mr. Eaton chiming on this, but it didn't change anything when I found out about the pricing back in 1994. I did put together 6 shows from what they mailed me and I was off running and taping. Also found out about a private textile's union show in NC that I was able to get in undercover.

What will you be doing? We're going to the Redmoor in Cincy to see a Columbus band called Scarlet Fire, showtime is 6:00 and they have a decent menu so we'll be doing dinner. For you heads in the tristate, the Redmoor is a great venue, long platformed audience with tables in the back and an open dance floor up front by the bands, wide open also, not crammed into a tiny box bar. I've heard good things about this band. Back in 1987 in March on Friday the 13th and Saturday the 14th, we drive to the Wiltern from Laramie for The Jerry Garcia band, we grabbed the large Marquis poster, the glass case wasn't locked!

Long Beach 81 is exactly what I was referring to. 2 yrs in he was hitting his stride hard with everyone. Not in deadbase just know what I've heard, but wonder did they ever open a set with a Brent song? Maybe a hey Pocky way a at Mardi gras show? I can remember exactly where I was at hearing about Jerry but not as clearly as Brent.

A few of my favorite Brent songs are Blow Away, We Can Run (sorry to have missed the DSO Newport version) and Take You Home (of course outta space with a lilting Jerry intro). He did lay down some nice keyboard banter in the 79-81 Shakedown Street jams.

How was the Rhapsody show?

Well, I'd say you got a damn good show opening with Meet Me at The Creek! That was a show closer for several years. He's been doing some 200 shows a year since like 2012 and moving in all kinds of directions, but now, I mean now his band is at a whole nother level. The upcoming threesome at the Ryman is streaming free on nugs. I've also heard he's got a couple hundred songs that will be unleashed in the coming years.

Possibly waiting on ticket sales for the shows currently scheduled before adding to their commitments? Nothing has sold out and there are a lot of exceptional cover bands throughout the nation now. Also, if you look at the number counts on each of the posts here, there isn't as much action as there used to be. The Covid experiment may have deep reaching tentacles in the subconscious that could be playing out in ways we never saw coming, bands and audiences alike. Hopefully tomorrow everything is snatched up!

I've enjoyed that taped for years thinking it was an indoor show 🤔 As for the 85 Spectrum shows, that was the end of the tour but they laid out some gems in that three night run, esp 4/8/85. Happy GD birthday FB, won't see you at Buckeye but maybe down the road sometime.
