  1. Agreement with Mango...despite following bitches this is an incredibly fantastic event. Kudos to all that make it happen and DSO x 20...a popular number for years playin in or following this band. Agreement with Mason...first time I experienced some fraying around the edges that previously were non existent. Apparently the Lost Lands festival last year at this Legend Valley venue (look it up) attracted 40,000 and have caused some not so fun growing pains which have spilt over. Examples.... VIP camping area, smaller with less shade and more rocks to walk through to and from stage. Showers a disaster...many problems with pressure and draining. If you are going to delay coffee in morning cause of lightning, then you cannot let people use the metal shitters right next door or you lose credibility...which happened. Growing pains perhaps to support the larger festival scene...but please please please continue to limit tickets to the Jubilee keeping it intimate and incredible mix of fun peeps and great music. Should be given some attention... I think we know what we talk about...smart enough to follow this band for so long. After meeting Mr. and Misses Mason child...ridiculously beautiful, I will answer his call for support because...he earns it. Has she experienced dancing on your belly at a show yet?
  2. Good for you attendees... Only 2 bands can play 60’s Grateful Dead as intended and one of them is 60’s Grateful Dead
  3. Fuck yes!!!!! Drunken Mexican Tourist $20 to win = $132

Awesome venue...built for dancing and acoustics. I could have danced all night and then danced some. more.
  7. Brother Esau after Mission? Fun times in the big room after finding solace in the back as drunk talking and yelling during Dew intolerable.
  8. There's "good old Grateful Dead" and then there's this. If you came to hear Brown Eyed Women you were at the wrong show. Primal. Stelly Dan playing 2 doors down at same time and was even played pre show warm up through the PA. Wonder if any dead was played there lol. Probably kept DSO crowd down a smidgeon.
  9. My Cornmeal experience always came with DSO. At Dunes fest Opening at Oxford MS....first time DSO played there I believe...like 15 people saw the opening act. Gratefulfest
  10. WSP is the only other band other then GD, JGB and DSO that I have done multiple day runs even over multiple cities. I too found a bunch of cool people, a few deadheads, and overall a very good time but the same lack of healing, especially after about the 10th time seeing them. Of course the other bands aged much differently for me. Exception would be parasite that found its way inside me in Birmingham but that's another story. Of course the stories and the memories are all part of the experience. This was before DSO took over my itinerary so luckily I did get to see Houser a couple of times.
  11. Brian you were a treasured hug @ Red Rocks.
  12. Estimated and family drums were musical highlights but the filled venue was the star for me. I too can remember the shows where you didn't need the hundreds place when counting the faces...at least at the Bluebird you can count on it being a one drummer show! Although there were 9000+ in attendance I roamed around and ran into the dozen or so (which represents 1000's of DSO "man shows") I tend to always run into if present. No use worrying about patronizing, self serving, or being concerned of what others may think...the band deserved this, and yes so did we. So as it has been these many years, I am on my way home to patch my bones so I can get back truckin on. Glad to see you...been awhile. Remember when I first started seeing DSO in earnest and wondering who the guy dancing at all the shows was...an integral link in the unbroken chain.
  13. Always yummy Michelle there too
  14. The oxymoron of an intimate festival exists here. Lots of not my first rodeo folks. Old friends, new ones. Many children. One stage one band at a time. Hear from anywhere. The music. Hassleless. Holly Bowling seemingly played keys with three hands at times. 3.5 DSO shows counting Melvin! Every band...really.
  15. Personally, the most important day in Grateful Dead history as the bus came by and I got on.... 5/4/77 Palladium NYC Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo > Big River, They Love Each Other, New Minglewood Blues, It Must Have Been The Roses, Cassidy, Deal, Looks Like Rain, Brown Eyed Women, Dancing In The Street Estimated Prophet, Scarlet Begonias-> Fire On The Mountain, Terrapin Station-> Playin' In The Band-> Comes A Time-> Playin' In The Band Wow!!!!! 41 years....where does the time go?

    Asheville 4-10

Dead tickets were way harder to come by than JGB tickets when the bus first came by my way in 77...but roommate in college convinced me to see Jerry band many times cause you get in the first 10 rows easy for like $6.50...AND SEE JERRY!!!! In retrospect.....smart, very smart
  17. I was at entire dead show.
  18. I know this happened because I was at Lakefront Arena in New Orleans to see this encore (followed by Bangles and Neville Bros. performing Knockin on Heavens Door). Bangles opened for George Michael the same evening at Superdome
  19. Regarding kids on the rail... I was right behind them and they had a blast, especially with the balloons and glow sticks. I pointed out the importance of dancing. I do think it is important for kids to see adult "play". On the darker side, at some point during the second set a stranger came down to the rail seemingly more interested in the children...and one boy in particular,...then the music. This was picked on by myself and a fellow DSO aficionado dancing next to me and in all seriousness pedophile flags were up!! Using my vast experience of being near rail, I instinctively just went into my mean elbows flying mode of dancing and without saying a word convinced him to leave the area...like I do when wandering drunks approach the rail. Sad sign of the times....unfortunately for all the talk on this thread of how cool it is to have families and kids around it also attracts this.
  20. Been to every DSO show at this stellar venue and will be there in a few hours....as previously mentioned about lawn chairs there: Same old story so it's been told...the chairs will disappear when the "regulars" at the park realize there are several sections I.e. "Wind" that are not part of this orchestra. Regarding alcohol...Since they now sell beer at the venue they of course frown upon bringing your own. Give a $ to the hat when they pass it around or even spare change.
  21. Oh yea, first time they played there...lawn chairs set up even close to stage on theoretical dance floor...thought at 10 AM when I was checking scene out how odd. Every year after after same routine...they won't last long lol, never did. No worries about making good showing...look around during middle second set...wow...give 5 bucks for the local charity...show is free! If you know how check out my more contemporaneous comments on this venue. Rambling I know but excited for Tues
  22. So glad it has returned...will b there
