Yea, that whole second set was definitely not for rookies. Bring it, or get it.

Rained right up til about 30 before show time, cleared and was once again, just exactly perfect. Maybe few degrees cooler. Seemed a good bit more peeps for Sat nite. I loved the construction of this set list. First set HSF then cowboy'd up from opening notes of a blazing Cumberland. Second set just an absolute beast. Good Lord from the jack opener, to an awesome funky expressway, scarlet fire, and from space forward it was an endurance test. Stellar performance by the band, matched a dance party that could've lit a small City with it's energy generation. Time with great friends makes me wish this never ended, but makes next time that much sweeter. You'd worked you way up to it, so weren't all that surprised. We needed to be reeled in a bit.

Really fun dance party at our usual spot stage left where the fescue is abundant and forgiving. Weather was just exactly perfect this night with clear skies and a crescent moon. First set was fun albeit a bit 87 list boilerplate and took off at PeggyO for me. Really strong and sort of unusual 3 song first set closers. The second set smoked from start to finish. After the killer fillers I had nothing left to give but to enjoy warm fellowship with world class people before, during and after. Many thanks to this hard working band and it's crew who make this happen. You bring a lot of diverse people from all over together and offer them the chance to experience bliss together. That's fairly special.

Get your ass down here. Rain, smain. 😎😀

So Ed, what is it again that you actually do for a living? Who's sleeping with Sunny? Is that a blood splatter on the wall? Do these shorts make my ass look fat?

Apple is out to take over the world, and so is Google, and I think Google is winning, so pretty soon I'll own all you iPhone pfuckers. There ya go, like that image bitch...😆

Well because I'm getting the same thing, in addition to all the other things you blame on it, you can now blame my Android phone for this problem...

Just in case ya didn't know. Red Rocks show now up on the Archive and also complete show, including Keller opener is up on YouTube. From the nugs cast, excellent quality. What a grate job DSO did, all around!

Just so we have a spot in reviews for reviews of this outstanding show. Everyone knows this is a recreation of 7-8-78, also played at red rocks, surely also sold out, also featuring Donna Jean! The fillers we're box and China Rider (which smoked). Everything tonight was just exactly perfect! Every band member was on fire, the crew did a killer job setting everything up, the family drums segment was a carribean delight. Estimated other one eyes was the fucking goods! Really appreciated my dance partners tonight, they kept me churning when the tank was low. Rob E you were right, the sound on row 25 was awesome. So happy for the band and this milestone, and grateful to have experienced it! ♥️

I would speculate 2 things. 1. Hauling taping gear to Jamaica sucks. 2. Too epic to fool around with taping gear.

An i seriously doubt any of you fuckers thought of me for even a second while devoiring that complex and flavor bursting bounty of hot, warm goodness. Oh well, I forgive you. I would not place upon you a burden I would not carry myself. 😊

I haven't heard anyone mention Disco Pizza. Did any get a slice of that heaven in their depleted mouths? Where they even there? Be surprised if not. Cause Disco Pizza and DSO go together like peas and carrots.

Mojo, I'm not mad at you for not liking that setlist, altho puzzled that you say 71- is peak stuff, but 69 is another band. I am aware of the sound and tempo changes between said years. I take issue with 2 things. 1. Pig was an average bluesman.... Bro, seriously. 2. Why can't you just say you didn't like the setlist instead of dispariging the band along with your statement. To say they sucked the energy out, that there were very few smiling faces, that Rob can't construct an elective setlist. I happen to be a fanatic of 66-72 and will see 30 DSO shows before I get a show that sweet. I'll go to 21 more just banking on getting that pre70 treasure (cause I had one 9 shows ago). I don't like the way you talk about the band, but I respect your opinion on the music.

Today, however, is the anniversary of the greatest live performance the GD ever did IMHO, 4-29-71. It has EVERYTHING you need. ❤️❤️❤️

Take the 50% Tix sold, add 40% typical head procrastinators, curtains open, near full house. We got there about 7:35 and there was like 150 people there, no line outside at all. There is a price to pay for procrastinating the pregame. Or was it prolooooonging the pregame?? 🤣

Just a killer barn burning 78 with highlights being obviously the Peggy O. The big river, dancin, other one, and black Peter rang my fucking bell. A shirt wringer if I ever had one. Thanks to dso, crew, and good friends for an incredibly memorable run. Very sad it's over. 😥

Welcome back Rob E, so hoping all is well and thanking you for an absolute throw down in Charlotte tonight!! Wow what a transition from jgb to tonight and getting the good ol grateful dead feelin'. The Viola was an epic cherry on that cake.

Peace and love filled the air tonight. In a big way.

Damn, church was good Tonite. We got the gospel good love tonight in Charleston. Thank you DSO for this JGB run that has been by far the most memorable run with good people I can remember. I feel like I need to be baptized in a river.

To be clear, you're saying this is a bad thing? Cause if you are, that problem still exist,... And it's pretty fucking awesome.

Thank God my agent talked me out of retirement because it woulda sucked to miss this spectacle. The Althea was dripping. Lisa made Masters of war her bitch. Damn that was good. The second set was a 2hr continuous dancefest. Good size crowd, not over packed as usual, so lots of groove pockets. This was a really fun departure from last 3 JGB shows, and I loved every note of it. The Tangled almost took me out.....😜

https://photos.app.goo.gl/IxEXLMxk2rHQBmqi1 What a beautiful city Birmingham is. The venue was in the industrial district, seemingly turning hipster district. Beer at the venue (avondale brewery) was quite tasty. Good local crowd, interesting mix. Quite a thick crowd for a Sunday nite, glad to see it. By the time they hit that gdtrfb, it was down to the ones that boogied down, and it was fun as hell. Despite a touch and go Uber ride back to the hotel, the city and venue are highly recommended.

Thanks for the snacks. Sorry we couldn't figure out the lighting. Your efforts were noted. As it turns out, rush hour in Atlanta goes 24/7.
