It was indeed an awesome Scarlett / Fire. The Eyes of the World were wide open too. Great show, small crowd that worked for me. Off to Rome tomorrow!

2024 Fall Tour and Cosmic New Year Announced!
Captain Zap replied to Tea's topic in Tour Information Hub
We did OK. Lots of cleaning up and lots of sadness for neighbors to the north. The loss of Chimney Rock, Black Mountain ... the devastation in Asheville ... I'm hoping the band comes around in the Fall to really lift spirits. The Salvage Station could not have survived and the Pisqah Brewery may be washed out too. All that said ... I'm looking forward to my mini road trip. It's not well thought out, but is was not well thought out when I got on the bus almost 50 years ago. I am really looking forwards to shaking my bones Perhaps we'll meet ... Aiko Aiko .... ALL DAY!!! -
2024 Fall Tour and Cosmic New Year Announced!
Captain Zap replied to Tea's topic in Tour Information Hub
Another crazy thought here ... I have a companion ticket if I have a companion who wants to fly up there on the 15th and come back on the 24th. I'll check in here tomorrow and see if anybody wants to escape the Carolinas for a week in New York. $150 bucks will carry whoever up and back Just a thought and still would love to know the good hotels, motels or whatever. 2024 Fall Tour and Cosmic New Year Announced!
Captain Zap replied to Tea's topic in Tour Information Hub
Which hotels, motels and notels are the best in each of these towns? I'll be visiting friends for the first three shows of the tour, but am going off on my own for Rome, Binghamton, Boston and New Haven. I hate just picking a random place if there is "A Place"! Help a brother out with some good intelligence. Aiko Aiko -

"The Anthem" Washington DC ... I've got a ticket
Captain Zap replied to Captain Zap's topic in Random Thoughts
Hey now .... my ticket has found a person! See y'all at the show! What's the best hotel in the neighborhood??? -
I'll get a room right there so I can miss out on the hiking and driving. The Wharf looks to be self contained.

Looking forward to "The Anthem" in Washington DC on the 21st. I've got an extra ticket, a car and looking to see if anyone in the Asheville, NC / Spartanburg, SC would want to share the ride and a few expenses. Message me! What can anyone tell me about the venue??? Looks like an awesome spot on The Wharf. Should be fun, but anyone with stronger bearings .... what do you know? Aiko Aiko

I'll be driving up from the Spartanburg / Greenville area of South Carolina to catch this one show in DC. I pulled the trigger a little too quickly and will have an extra ticket. Anyone looking for a ride who wants to share some expenses ... give me a shout! Leaving the morning of the show ... Aiko Aiko

Looks like a car pass gets you a spot to park and set up a tent with your car. Driving around doesn't really work. Everyone in the car will need their show pass too and it's different than the day parking. Hope that helps!

Will be there Thursday night ... leaving Monday morning. I planned poorly for Jubilee and this worked out perfectly. Should be a blast.

Solo Jerry ... Passaic, New Jersey April 10, 1982

Apparently these two shows were his only solo shows. My birthday was a week earlier and the tickets were a gift. Nobody on stage but Jerry and the guitar. -

I had no idea. Not sure how I missed that factoid because I often think I know everything about my time on the bus. I got inside as he was about doing "To Lay Me Down" during the early show. Followed by "Run For The Roses", the evening was a fog of delight. I knew people who worked for the Capital Theater and I got in through the out door for that last tidbit of the early show. Freaked out or not, Jerry got his stride! The crowd was with him all the way. It was an incredible evening. I was extremely toasty and feeling particularly good. Just hearing Jerry so raw ... so Jerry. My first JGB show was in Berkley back in February 1979 ... several shows in Palo Alto come to mind as well. All were awesome experiences ... but none were solo shows. What an incredibly insightful birthday gift it was. Something I'll treasure forever as it truly was a gem like no other. Thanks for the insight ... you made my day! Here's a link to that early show for anybody who might want to take a listen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UbGCXeZoSt8 -
I was just poking around youtube tonight and came across a Jerry solo show I went to for my 25th birthday. It was a surprise gift and a venue you could only love if you were from New Jersey. The Capital Theater in Passaic, New Jersey. I remember being so awestruck at how beautiful Jerry sang that night. I cried then, and I cried tonight. This man is part of my soul and each performance, with or without the boys was special. This one ... was solo Jerry and he really touched the crowd and rocked my heart. For those of us lucky enough to have heard Jerry play by himself, this is honestly one of his best performances. I was so happy to stumble on this and bring back those memories. Don't get me wrong ... the shows with JGB .... Seals, Kahn, and Saunders ... WOW. But ... this acoustic performance is a must listen. I won't loose track of this show again. Well, ends up I couldn't go to the Jubilee with much sorrow. Next year I will plan better and in advance. On a happy note though, I'll be doing the two shows in Pelham, Tennessee just before Jubilee. The venue looks awesome and I can't wait to figure out the space. Now keeping with the theme of the thread; I was disappointed to NOT see a couple of shows at the brewery at Black Mountain, North Carolina. It looks like they're just starting events again after a long reprieve for COVID. I do love that venue and have been to many DSO shows there. I'm hoping, that when they open their doors wide open, DSO will welcome them back to the land of the living and book a couple there. With so many awesome venues in Appalachia, I'd be sure to tag them all as I shed off these cobwebs and get myself back into full swing. It's good to see DSO being so active everywhere. I can name a dozen or so venues within a couple of hundred miles from my home, here in the foothills, where I'd enthusiastically follow the crowd. Anybody have the skinny on The Caverns? Please share your insights ... I'd love to hear about it. See many of you soon. Aiko, Aiko!!!

My last Jubilee was at Nelson's Quarry ... a long time ago. I'm looking forward to this year and making it easy for myself by renting an RV for the adventure. I have never been to this venue and have no idea where to park to give me maximum exposure. I know nothing at all, other than I really want to be there. Anybody got a digital map of the venue and parking area? Who can give me advise for which tickets to buy and where to park. I'll be there to suck in the whole experience. I'd love some advice on what to stock up with ... do they have hookups for the RVs ... ect. ect. One last quick question ... these tickets ... do I really need to pay for two RV tickets or can I buy one and lower the cost for my wife by buying a different type? Looking forward to shaking my bones with all of you.
