We had several dance parties at hotels, and the biggest one was 98/12/31. We had three sets that night (on tape), and that set was set two of our NYE celebration. The first set wrapped in a second set, the set closed with China>Rider, a perfection construction to be between a first and second set. Venue was a conference room, we dropped balloons and an absolute mountain of confetti, which I am sure they are still vacuuming up today. Good times. Praise DSO.

Nice thread subject pivot, JohnA. Got me to thinking about openers I had personal experience with, and the first that came to mind, while not an all timer, blew the doors off out of the gate. The 90/03/14 CRS/Stranger tour opener at the Cap Centre left our group gasping for air and mouths agape. Little did we know what we were in for at that three show run. Praise DSO.

88/12/11 Long Beach Arena, Long Beach, CA Set One Iko, Jack Straw, Row Jimmy, Queen Jane, Bird Song, Hell In A Bucket. Set Two Box of Rain, Victim>Foolish Heart, Women Are Smarter>Drums>Space>Miracle> Dear. Mr. Fantasy>Hey Jude Finale> Black Muddy River>Sugar Magnolia. E: Mighty Quinn. The item that caught my eye was the placement of the BMR. Of the 66 total plays 9 migrated to the second set. Of those 9, only 2 seeped into the Jerry ballad slot (&87/3/29 Spectrum, Greg). Rarely hear much about these shows. Let us celebrate every time the Big Man took the stage. Praise DSO.

71/12/10 Fox Theatre, St. Louis, MO Set One Bertha, Me and My Uncle, Mr. Charlie, Loser, BIODTL, Sugaree, Jack Straw, Next Time, El Paso, Tennessee Jed, Big RR Blues, Casey Jones. Set Two Good Lovin', Brokedown Palace, Playin' in the Band, Run Rudolph Run, Deal, Sugar Magnolia, Comes A Time, Truckin'>Drums>Other One>Sitting on Top of the World>Other One>Not Fade Away>China Cat jam> GDTRFB>Not Fade Away. E: One More Saturday Night. final China Cat jam A show included in the new St. Louis box set. One of the last Top of the Worlds, the Other One sandwich a frequent occurrence in late 1971. Waiting patiently to be played in a BDP. Praise DSO.

89/06/19 Shoreline Amphitheatre, Mountain View, CA Set One Feel Like A Stranger>Franklin's Tower, Walkin' Blues, Candyman, We Can Run, Push Comes to Shove, Memphis Blues, Bird Song. Set Two China Cat Sunflower>I Know You Rider>Playin' In the Band>Crazy Fingers>Playin' In the Band>Drums> Space>Take You Home>Watchtower>Black Peter> Throwin' Stones>Not Fade Away. E: Knockin' on Heaven's Door. Filler: White Rabbit. Southern Winter tour concludes with this lovingly executed recreation. End of tour energy permeates the entire show. Monster opening duo, the Stranger jam a whirlwind. I moved to the back during the Candyman and was dancing with a little redheaded girl during "it belongs to children of our children kids" of We Can Run, Dead magic in the air. Bird Song its usual epic self, the primary jam a complete disengage from mortal ground. The pre drums laid down with grand precision, the in/out of the Crazy Fingers back into Playin' flawless. I have heard few Take You Homes from DSO, maybe never, this one appropriate, with just Rob and Jeff on stage. Black Pete a pin dropper, and the Throwin'>NFA delivered with conviction. Knockin' another end of tour theme selection and Lisa blows the doors off with the filler. After struggling a little to find my place, I met a fantastic group of kids at set break, and we had an amazing time in the second. McKenzie, Logan, I love you. Great tour band and crew, much thanks. Sorry for the lateness of the post as yesterday was driving day. Praise DSO.

71/12/04 Felt Forum, Madison Square Garden, New York, NY Set One Truckin', Sugaree, Mr. Charlie, BIODTL, Tennessee Jed, Jack Straw, Run Rudolph Run, You Win Again, Bobby McGee, Comes a Time, Smokestack Lightning, Cumberland Blues, One More Saturday Nite. Set Two Ramble On Rose, Me & My Uncle>Other One> Mexicali>Other One>Wharf Rat, Casey Jones. E: Johnny B. Goode. Filler: Loose Lucy, Tangled Up In Blue. 50th anniversary of this performance from NYC. Big crowd and a plethora of energetic dancers occupied the second floor of the joint. Typical 71 fare, love Mr. Charlie, interesting placement of the Comes A Time, the closing triad a sweeping panoramic of color and spin. Have been hoping to catch the Smokestack and got the stand alone one here, which killed Pig style. After dipping a toe in the water for a pair in the second, Other One realizes full power, slowed temporarily by the Mexicali. By the Casey things had cleared out, we had an amazing group left on the dance floor that gobbled new found real estate. Exceptional filler, Jeff really nails Tangled and thought of Tea several times during that one. Great fun. On to St Petersburg. Praise DSO.

2021/12/04 Revolution Live at the Backyard Setlist?
BillK522 replied to GoodBear's topic in Tour Information Hub
They did an elective last night, probably a recreation tonight. Enjoy the show. Praise DSO. -
Original Recipe. Shakedown Street, Minglewood Blues, Peggy-o, Passenger, Brown-Eyed Women, Sunrise, Black Throated Wind, Tom Thumb Blues, CC Rider> Takes a Lot to Laugh, Music Never Stopped. Jack Straw, Foolish Heart>Corinna>He's Gone> Got My Mojo Workin'>Drums>Imagine Space> Eyes of the World>Unbroken Chain>China Doll> Good Lovin'. E: Revolution Friday beach night in Fort Lauderdale feels strangely like the Bottle and Cork in Delaware, chopped up venue, tight and full of gawkers. Shakedown Street out of the chute glorious, Black Throated a little extra juice, the first set a workingman's special, still thoroughly enjoyable. Corinna again kills (love that song), the band saved the best for last, the Eyes>UBC>China Doll sequence inspirational. Revolution a cute encore for the venue. Rick, Whit, and I held the fort down upstairs all evening and had security and bartenders dancing throughout the show. We were having too much fun. Rest up and see you on Saturday Night. Praise DSO.

84/07/13 Greek Theater, Berkeley, CA Set One Bertha>Greatest Story, Dire Wolf, CC Rider, Loser, Cassidy, Dupree's Diamond Blues, Hell In a Bucket>Might As Well. Set Two Scarlet Begonias>Touch of Grey>Fire on the Mountain, Women Are Smarter>Drums>Space The Wheel>I Need A Miracle>Stella Blue> Sugar Magnolia. E: Dark * Star. last Dark Star 81/12/31 [167] shooting star during Dark Star. While a follow up to the insanity Atlanta Saturday Night would be tough to find, a pretty significant Grateful Dead performance is a fabulous starting point. Solid efforts by all, special shout out to Jeff tonight for tackling all that Jerry material with competence and flair. Crazy venue set up, I spent the evening dancing on a raised metal platform, with brief spurts of wood chips. Solid versions throughout the first, the closing triad especially strong and Might As Well the foreshadowing, although I didn't know for sure until the Touch. As mentioned Jeff was front and center in the second, the transition back to the Fire silky. Skip's bomb dropping helped draw the Star, which was lovely, right up to the curfew, so darn no filler. Enjoy a couple days off band and crew. Praise DSO.
