Last year they did New Years anywhere but the Oakland Coliseum. You don't know what you got 'til it's gone... Such a fun run of shows, even if it was very freshly post coma and the band had so much to build on tour by tour for the next 3 years on the way back from Jerry's health meltdown. Dancin' was about to drop out, Comes A Time would get super rare, and the Playin' opening/closing treatment is unprecedented. Fun times!!

First DSO 1/22/99…Third song Loser…I was balling like a baby.

None taken. Been living the family man life for awhile and Hyryder plus local GD music has been my salvation. Otherwise I’d be seein more DSO shows Forever indebted to DSO for helping me get to a new plane of post-Jerry. There’s a reason I was brought to tears back in 2003 EDIT: Theres more time I’ve spent with DSO than the GD - even if the show count is 2-to-1 GD. Life was different then 😀

Same thing happened to me, brought to tears, right about the same time. Finding Dark Star Orchestra around some corner, where they,ve been waiting to meet me, got me back to where I belong, post Jerry.

In 1986 I was told this string of NYE shows were sold out, not surprising since Jerry had overcome such odds and returned in great form. But of the wonderful generous nature in orbiting that Grateful Dead universe , along the side road beside the Kaiser, speakers were set up allowing the generous tent/ lot scene across from the convention center to partake in dance and musical communion. This followed a string of shows for his official welcome back on Dec 15, 16, 17 that my friends” mail ordered, got and attended three nights. In between JGB played the Stone theater some.

So Tea I've heard you quite the fanboy. Never seen hyryder??? But the band knows you as one of their biggest supporters and fans. 50/100 people waiting to meet you come March when you make your first hyryder appearance. Stu Allen has some pretty intense fans. Definitely some Bay Area peeps that think he should be getting one of the headlining spots. Our own Chuck Vegas used to swear by Cubensis and the short trip from Vegas to LA for a dead fix. Sunday looks like an all out monster day. Even the first band should be special Stu Allen and Ronnie McCoury do Garcia Grisman. I won't leave the concert venue all day on Sunday except to check on my little guy. Ive wanted to post photos but I can't even figure that out anymore on here. Figured it out

Completely GAME ON show…such a different experience than Del Mar which was super fun, played so well and arguably had better sound in the brand spanking new venue but…. complete roof blowout during Deal after a super solid first set and just total second set beauty perfection…whatever words you use for speechless situations… LA crowd was full throttle and giving it loud and clear back to the band right out of the gate and all the way through and the symbiotic organism fed on itself thoroughly throughout the night…band was so ready to go out on limbs and lay it all down…never recall seeing Jeff quite so animated and playful and literally getting down while slaying the shit out of so many jams… it was just one of those nights…. the Wiltern is such an old beauty (had seen them there 4yrs? Ago) and it makes me wonder how the influence of such a beautiful space that clearly has soul and so much history influences the music… terraced floor so no slope dancing, like the warfield and other small halls I’ve seen that have Eliminated the slope floor for flat terraces….boulder theater comes to mind too… didn’t talk to tons of people but was surprised how many peeps we came across who were DSO virgins in last couple nights. Definitely DandC splillover in there… getting their minds blown I’d say! wow thanks for this full throttle dialed in Saturday night in LA Smokin’ Hot🔥 ⚡️🌹⚡️
