What a great weekend and I enjoyed seeing all my friends so much at times I was at a complete loss of words. I’ll be back in 2021. By night 3 I’d loosened my load and it was a beautiful day. The feel of this first set was cruising on a Sunday drive in a three on a tree classic Ford truck with 4 people packed in on the bench seat. Of course we were rocking. During Let It Grow the sky opened as the sky turned purple pink with the setting sun. The crowd got super happy to hear Pocky Way and good dancing. All the dancers stayed and we threw down on the dance floor and ended up cooled off by nature. I love some watchtower! Black Peter was amazing and delicately delivered. What a night! The encores about sum it up. Grate show! Grate band! Grate crew! Grate People all around!!5 points

Absolute blast. Such a great group. Love all around. One complaint move the fire spinners. That is the most ideal dance space and to rope it off is plain stupid. If anything it should be roped off for the dancers. Fire spin late night or do it back by kid zone. Im mid spin totally blissing out 2nd set night two. My lady says I’m just a step off from Jamaica. So I’m moving. Security stops me to tell me they gonna set fire spinners back up. That’s insanity to me. I was so close to that total loss of my own consciousness to have that happen is a total bummer. If you feel you need to use that space for fire spinners and you feel like they essential to this scene and community. Do it late night when half us back at campsite and good dance space isn’t at such a premium. Or just let me know you don’t give a fuck about my opinion. I will bring the rugs back. I will rope them off and I won’t let anyone that doesn’t dance on them. I don’t care if your my friend or you know all of us. You don’t dance you don’t come on rugs. I’d rather just move the fire spinners but I will stand up for the dancers and fight for us to have a space to really get down. I think the dancers are more important to this scene than the fire spinners.4 points

I had a wonderful weekend, and the music was awesome. Nice to meet a few of you 😉 and until next time, stay groovy3 points

Second this. Put the "performaners" somewhere else- anywhere but right there. And here's 2 more cents. This is a problem i have with....humanity. When did show going become a spectator sport? Everyone On their phones, very little participation. This Music and scene was born of the Acid Tests where everyone was the show. Additionally, the fire spinning smells disgusting. All complaints aside, my favorite jubilee show ever. Just an epic dance party, so many people freely expressing themselves and loving eachother. Much gratitude to all involved, fans bands and crews. Yay!3 points

Hey. I thought the kids were awesome at redrocks. I Took a seat further back during drums at jubilee and saw a few kids so figured it was the same group. I just assumed in the last 8 months they were all home getting ready for their next stage appearance and were honing their craft bevause it was definitely was a higher level at jubilee. I still have a wave of bliss rolling through my body. Jubilee usually results in a full week of that happy glow. It really is the best place on the planet during Memorial Day. 90% of attendees would give you the shirt off their back. Every camp of strangers id walk by and say hello would say have a seat and hang out. The love and sharing is really unequalled. My buddy who did his 1st jubilee said every person he locked eyes with would flash a huge smile. He was blown away by the love shown. I mean if you go to jubilee and don’t have the ultimate time you may be incapable of being happy at all.2 points

This is a freedom fest and people are talking about banning snoke? What’s next making people wear deodorant or requiring a collared shirt? It’s free air. If cigs are banned I’m out out of principal. I could smoke a vape but are u wanting this to be a Ticketmaster outdoor venue where everything is banned? I’ll move a few steps away from you but there are non smokers who at times need a smoke because of the intensity of jubilee. I’m all with you on the fire dancers roping off our space but you aren’t breathing the smoke outdoors you are just smelling it. I smell lots of things I don’t want to smell but it’s camping. I want nothing banned but roping off dance area. The smell of the chemicals the fire spinners use is worse than any smoke there is.2 points

IIBilly strings played until 2:18. I was curious how much he went over so looked at phone. Billy strings blew my top off. Anyone who didn’t stay for that missed what I believe was the best show of the day. Every song was a face melter. Definitely more psychedelic that I’ve seen and heard from him. He’s such an insane talent. I don’t know how to describe what I heard. It’s like a super fast playing psychedelic jazz band decided to use bluegrass music as their conduit into what they really do. We looked at our friends every 30 secs with dropped jaws. Even at that insane playing speed he has such volume control when he jazzes it off beat. I’m seeing that dude next time he’s within 4 hours. I love when a band knows their audience and he played dead festival style. Didn’t play any dead songs which was completely fine with me considering he was giving us the goods. Well he did have to follow dso so that prob led to a more psychedelic style. Not sure I’ve ever seen the late bight band have that many people down there either. It’s also rare to see that many people I know who usually just see the dso guys stay down there and boogie. Dso is going to always bring the goods. This was very unexpected and they made use of the big PA vs smaller clubs where they can’t make the sound move hundreds of feet. Definitely the most psychedelic show of the fest. Oh yeah that 78 dso show was on fire too. My fav show of the fest even though Sunday was my favorite dance party even though the fire people tried to distract people from the music. They are 20 feet from the left PA and took up prob 600 sq ft of space that about 30 of us had on lockdown. I would just tell people don’t look. It’s a trap to distract you from your mission to get down and boogie. It sort of reminded me of that Charlotte Fillmore show where they wouldn’t open the curtains and were forcing us all into undanceable space until enough complained. Unfortunately our complaints weren’t heard here. I mean dso is the focus of the fest. You don’t put fire spinners between the crowd and the stage. They used to be way up the hill or on the grass but they had an area bigger than most indoor venue pits roped off. Regardless it was magical!!! The happiness level of everyone seemed off the charts. Didn’t know it could be any friendlier but this year took the cake. I think we need 1 of these every 3 months!!2 points

No she did Disney in a harness with me. Harness was left at grandmas on Florida so all we have is the body wrap thing. She’s danced with mommy a few times. Kinda danced with of us first set last night but she was on mommy tummy. We do dance together. A few times I have danced her to sleep through a fit. Thank you for the support2 points

The family drums on Saturday night included members of Donna the Buffalo, the mighty pines, Chris Robinson brotherhood and some of our friends. One of the better ones we have had. Having it be mostly musicians creates an excellent groove. Tara Nevens from Donna the Buffalo on Washboard was absolutely outstanding1 point

Hey, I have a complaint. I didn’t go. I worked all weekend. Be grateful. It could have been worse. You could have been in my shoes.1 point

Grate weekend of music. Can’t complain too much about the weather. Everything made it thru the storms standing and was able to pack up dry for the most part yesterday. The boys and I had a great time and shared some awesome memories. Saw way too many medical emergencies this year. Not sure what these kids are getting down with but it seems like bad news. Weekend was over way too quickly and now the post festival blues set in as I head back to work today. Can’t wait for the next run of shows.1 point

I liked when the food vendor were off to the side two years ago. Made the field much more open.1 point

I used to have a Dupree’s Diamond News issue from the late 80’s where the writer essentially blamed all the problems with the late 80s scene- crowds, prices, parking lot, vendors- all of it- on venues allowing beer sales during Grateful Dead concerts. He tried hard to convince all who would listen that booze was killing the scene, but...hard to tell Dead fans what to do. When I drank some beer at this years Jubilee, I thought of him and gave him a toast.1 point

I hate cell phones at a show (I don’t get how a person could be more interested in recording what they’re watching vs. just enjoying it and imprinting it on their soul), and don’t want to be around cigarettes anywhere, but the notion that everyone at a Grateful Dead show (or any concert) is going to follow the rules established by others is not realistic. It’s also contradictory to the spirit of the Grateful Dead scene. The irony of a hippie telling someone else what they can and cannot do is a tell. And the implication that increased popularity and show attendance is a bad thing is not fair to the band. Money is a thing, and they are entitled to more of it if the market allows. What if DSO could fill Alpine Valley? Good or bad thing? I think it would be fantastic, but it sure as hell would not be as easy as rolling into some bar to see them. Fascinating topic. Change is hard at times. Hang in there.1 point

I realize I have very little credibility here due to lack of show attendance in recent years. But as an original member of the Children of the Rugs, an attendee and dancer (such as it is) at a goodly number of shows over a goodly number of years, and an overall proud fan, I think I have a decent perspective of what works on this side of the rail. As far as DSO at festies goes, I speak as someone who saw a lot of GratefulFests as well as Jubilees up to two years ago, not to mention Mighty Highs during the band's tenure there. Sacrificing valuable dance turf to fire spinners who formerly were off to the side (stage right, I believe) is at best thoughtless in the true sense of the term. At worst it may be deemed, even if not intentionally meant that way, a comment on the relative worth of deeply devoted fans. In any event, it does not work. Neither do cigarettes. Nor do cell phones. Save it for Taylor Swift.1 point

Agreement with Mango...despite following bitches this is an incredibly fantastic event. Kudos to all that make it happen and DSO x 20...a popular number for years playin in or following this band. Agreement with Mason...first time I experienced some fraying around the edges that previously were non existent. Apparently the Lost Lands festival last year at this Legend Valley venue (look it up) attracted 40,000 and have caused some not so fun growing pains which have spilt over. Examples.... VIP camping area, smaller with less shade and more rocks to walk through to and from stage. Showers a disaster...many problems with pressure and draining. If you are going to delay coffee in morning cause of lightning, then you cannot let people use the metal shitters right next door or you lose credibility...which happened. Growing pains perhaps to support the larger festival scene...but please please please continue to limit tickets to the Jubilee keeping it intimate and incredible mix of fun peeps and great music. Should be given some attention... I think we know what we talk about...smart enough to follow this band for so long. After meeting Mr. and Misses Mason child...ridiculously beautiful, I will answer his call for support because...he earns it. Has she experienced dancing on your belly at a show yet?1 point
