  1. This venue was pretty cool, kind of unusual at first to see DSO in a room where people are sitting down and eating dinner, but it turned out to be a good place to see them, excellent sound. I preferred night one to night two, really enjoyed the second set sequence, and the segue into China cat from NFA was perfect and unexpected. Love the early style China Rider transitions where Eaton takes the lead, which is what he did here, followed by the 1974 style jam (forget what that's called) before settling into a high energy Rider. Dark Star was excellent, and the peak of Two Souls was the highlight of the night for me. Eaton sang "that's why he tweets the blues" during Saturday Night, haha. I got my recordings of these shows up on the archive. For some reason, the track names came out screwy, using the file names instead of the track names, but they are in order. Going to try to figure out what went wrong and try to fix it, but in the meantime: https://archive.org/details/dso2019-05-13.cp4

  2. My buddy Sam, who’s a big boy himself, started quoting big boy Pete lyrics after that show lol. He was like i got a .45 to keep me alive; seven bullets on my side. I’m like what is that from. He’s like big boy Pete. He had no clue that is an ultra rare song. As far as he knew the dead played it a lot and wanted to learn the lyrics.

  4. $15 each or $25 for the two. I'm pretty sure you can watch after the fact for a few days, but don't quote me on that.

  5. Skip was singing the high part on Rider, I think maybe to keep it sort of era specific even though it was an elective. That guy who took a spill was ok, he shook it off and was walking around when I left.

  6. Second set was probably 45 minutes. First set was quite long, so I wasn't surprised. My guess is the Dead played too long for their first set that night and realized they needed to do an abridged second set. I thought the setlist in general was odd. I can't recall ever coming across an electric 2 set Dead show with every song played as a standalone song. Second night at The Hamilton was definitely the better night, and I am not just saying that because it was a Pig-o-rama. I would give it a solid 8/10 and the first night a 6/10. Could've been an even better show if the second set matched the calibur of the first.

  7. Interesting JohnA, Jeff wore a black NRPS tee shirt last nite. Amazing show, band really laid into the list. Big Boss>Good Love, Lovelight, Next Time, HTH, Pig-O Rama. What a treat for the ears to experience this talented group of musicians. Jubilee on the horizon. Praise DSO.

  8. Interesting, this recreation is listed as a pre-announce for Hampton Beach later this summer, perhaps an error? Is there still a special recreation in store for Hampton?

  9. Dino sure picked a winner with that one, he's doing a great job with the lists. Always love hearing Ship Of Fools, one of the most underrated, underplayed songs in the repertoire. Moved upstairs with Mango for the 2nd set. A lot more room, and really didn't give up anything sound wise. Thought of HB during the Peter, wish he could have been there. The 3 hour ride home was treacherous in that monsoon. High energy show from start to finish. A+.

  11. With the organ on stage and Lisa i assumed from the get-go that it was an elective. I've been Peaking since 05 and just last visit discovered the balcony. Don't wanna talk about it too much, give others ideas...but it is the killer dance zone. Did anyone else think that the shakedown was crazy good? Wowzers This final statement led me to some research...111 help on the ways and 223 franklins....so not rare at all, more common in fact.

  12. Another Flawless Victory for DSO at the Peak! The joint was jumpin from the first note of Mississippi Half Step and the band kept up the energy all night. The near sellout crowd (place was packed) was especially engaged. Highlights for me was a Franklin's Tower sans Help>Slip, don't get that very often. The Shakedown (2nd set opener) was a tasty precursor to a groovy charging second set. I thought the drums>space was really good. Straight to the point, I usually take a bathroom break during space but no need this show, was full of energy. Black Peter out of Drums was a surprise then rippers of I need a Miracle>Bertha>Good Lovin' had everyone dancing. Then they rocked us back down to earth with a smooth Ripple to send the crowd home satisfied. Was fun to meet some new people and glad to see there were no shenanigans like that last show there. Grate job by the band, crew, & crowd. Can't wait until the next installment.
