I call them Phish kids. Whatever term you want to use we all know what he means. People there for the scene for the party. Not for the message, the music, and the healing. That stella blue took me places. I cried little but it reminded me of a few years ago and just how low I felt. When I had to move away from my friends because I broke down and sobbed. And here I am two weeks from welcoming a beautiful and healthy baby daughter into the world. I love you guys. I’m really upset about what a few people did at our show. Penns peak is a holy place to me, especially the pre-thanksgiving show. I feel someone brought hate into my church.

Definitely a few weird vibes from the show. All in all it was a good night, not sure if it was the near full moon, new mgmnt at the Peak or what but from jump street we encountered the never ending lines outside the venue a 1/2 hr before showtime. This isn’t something new but we got up there a little late & wanted a little tailgate time. So we got in line. Heard some say better run away, others say you better stand still. Needless to say I didn’t stand in line and got into the show in about 10mins. They were still scanning tickets & bringing people in at the end of the 1st set! That puts a lot of people in a bad mood before they get into the room. I understand it was sold out but that can’t happen. Venue’s gotta do a better job Things went down we don’t understand, but I guess in time we will. Although I can’t say I saw a fight, maybe someone could have gotten kicked out (which I’ve seen at many shows). I did witness a mass exedous of what looked to be high school kids leaving at the beginning of the 2nd set. I remember thinking to myself “who goes home at the start of the second set?” I feel kinda angry everyone (including the band) got screwed out of the last few songs because of a couple idiots. Was very bizarre when they basically pulled the plug. I don’t even remember them announcing the setlist. Who knows, maybe they bust out a Lovelight or something to end the night & leave everyone w/ an awesome feeling to go back to their families with. I’m all for self policing the scene (its got very few rules to guide) but it’s a fine line since many people (myself included) aren’t big fans of the police telling you what to do in general. That’s the beauty of a Dead show, pretty much anything goes. You start putting more rules in place & it could be counterproductive. But if you’re acting like a dumbass & it starts to encroach on a bunch of other peoples good vibes you need to be dealt with. Either by your own crew/friends, security, or the elder statesmen heads on the scene. Hopefully this isn’t gonna be a new trend. Or maybe it was just a one time thing that’s a blip on the radar. Either way this darkness’ got to give. That’s my rant Hope everyone has a blessed & safe holiday with your families & friends. praise DSO

I can understand not caring for WSP all that much but puking when you hear them seems like a really adverse reaction.

DSO’s official statement: Due to circumstances beyond the control of the Penn’s Peak or Dark Star Orchestra, last night’s DSO performance was shortened by approximately 30 minutes. After consultation with paramedics and local authorities a matter of public concern was raised. It was then mutually decided it would be in the best interest of all patrons to end the show ahead of schedule. Both parties are incredibly disappointed by last night’s turn of events, but we all look forward to the band’s return next year.

That’s so fucked up, sorry guys that happned. I had to bail on the show last minute. Last year at Penns some asshole threw up right in our dance area walked away and it was never cleaned up. Love this venue so it didn’t phase me much but to hear what happned last night hurts me. There’s always belligerent drunks at almost shows who don’t care for the music like most of us do. It socks but it’s part of the game at all shows not just DSO. We’ve been fortunate to not have to deal with much disturbance Btw happy thanksgiving everyone

Tiger said it best. It's the Touch Heads. They are an annoyance at DeadCo shows too. A real shame that element got out of hand. But the argument on "organic is safe" is ignorant. Curare is one of the most deadly poisons--completely natural. And alcohol is, in fact, organic and natural. There are mushrooms that will kill you. Be smart to be safe.

The Music is always the thing -BUT- you guys light the fuse like only a few can. 1 hour feels like a minute when its all cranked up. Can’t wait to get plugged into the vibe !!!

Glad to see you back on the train bro. I always enjoy being around your peaceful glow and your reflective beam. Hope you and everyone had a great thanksgiving with their loved ones. If you are still on board I’ll see u next weekend with the gang. Can’t wait to hang with our 4-some. The group of Gr8tfulpair, tea, goingbacktowhere and myself has led to many a night rolling on the floor crying laughing. It’s a pretty great group dynamic and it only comes together once a year besides jubilee but that’s a much larger group. You have the dead encyclopedia, the mild mannered storyteller, the wild man and the situational comedian. And any can be any of those depending on the night. The best nights are when all 4 are the wild men but that requires a full moon and 6 other secret ingredients and ideally have an acre between us and the next living souls. I can tell being around family today has lifted my spirits plus the COWBOYS WIN!!!!

I'm not ready to throw mdma in the same category as those other substances. Is it possibly harmful to health if over used? Yes. But the behavior that it elicits is loving. How to know if it's clean? There are tests for that.

We will lose what we have here unless we police ourselves. This is a seminal moment. I HAVE ZERO PROBLEM walking over & getting a security guard and ending someone's rampage before it hurts others. K2 is an issue in New Haven. There were 20+ overdoses in a park this summer when someone was giving the K2 away. Evidently Fentanyl has come to town. I have arm barred several show goers in Vermont about to land face first on their opiate/alcohol mix. This is UNACCEPTABLE. But Penns Peak.... that is like a DSO Holy Ground. THIS IS A WAKEUP CALL TO OUR COMMUNITY!!!! We TRAVEL over 6 hours to Penns Peak and get hotel room because we LOVE THAT BARN.... Thanksgiving Eve precludes that usually so we go to the Spring show. We need to understand that we live on a planet of good & evil. Our music and GOOD TIME is being hijacked by the same element that hijacked the GD tour starting back in 1992. I ended my touring in 1991. 15 shows in 18 days at MSG & Boston Garden in Fall 1991. When Hornsby left the handwriting was on the wall. There is an ELEMENT that uses OUR MUSIC as an EXCUSE to GET OBLITERATED, while at the same time AS A PREDATORY TARGET to sell THEIR WARES (H, Fentanyl, Special K, MDMA, Nitrous) WE DO NOT NEED THESE PEOPLE. THEY COME FOR OUR PARTY & GOOD VIBE but do not understand it & cannot participate in it because they are SOULLESS. They do not come for the music. They ask you after Forever Young is played, what show are they RECREATING. They go beserk when Truckin is played. (They actually know a song)By the second set. They spill & slur & bump you all second set. There are some genuine young people seeking our vibe. I engage them usually on the process that Rob Eaton has to go through to program a tour and why certain shows do not fit at a given time. I said wow, old venue, good vibe, if it was Dead & Co. it would be a Nitrous festival. Thank god it is DSO. Then I leave show and GODDAMN. at least 3 vendors of Nitrous right outside the venue. No COPs in Lowell to care. Fender benders in parking lot in the pouring rain. GTFO on a Friday night. We went to Northampton.... PERFECTION. We choose DSO shows by venue. We NEED DANCE ROOM. Not SEATS. Capitol Theater has an inclined floor and MANY DRUNKS and SOLD OUT 1800 people..... No Thanks LET's TAKE THIS BACK!!! I KNOW YOU POSTERS. I SEE YOU IN THE FRONT AT EVERY SHOW.
