Both shows were chock full of moments where we all seemed to just levitate together. The band managed to expertly communicate feelings of joy, wickedness, beauty, solemn truth, peace, love, doubt, strength, loss, and inspiration! Really, really great fun! The people - wow, the people! Put these things together and you’ve got heaven on earth The best of times ❤️4 points

There is nothing quite like being surrounded by so many dear, loving hearts. You make my life a beautiful garden. I am taking today as a day to enjoy the glorious view and perspective, breathe it in and solidify it as we start a new season, marked by man, not by nature. Peace and and great love, PG3 points

So great to spend another birthdaywith my favorite band in my favorite place with the best dance crew ever. I love you!3 points

Really fun dance party at our usual spot stage left where the fescue is abundant and forgiving. Weather was just exactly perfect this night with clear skies and a crescent moon. First set was fun albeit a bit 87 list boilerplate and took off at PeggyO for me. Really strong and sort of unusual 3 song first set closers. The second set smoked from start to finish. After the killer fillers I had nothing left to give but to enjoy warm fellowship with world class people before, during and after. Many thanks to this hard working band and it's crew who make this happen. You bring a lot of diverse people from all over together and offer them the chance to experience bliss together. That's fairly special.3 points

Why are the best all spoken for? To love words more than bodies, to have both. Depth is a rarity in my simple world of VBSD. A affliction all towns have. It's a Social Disorder. It's funny how childhood memories and experiences propel one forward. To remove the constraints of the isolated and strangeness of formative years. To try and be cool because you never were, until you found a traveling tribe of your own kind. I will always have feelings of inadequacy, but it's why I dance so open with the tribe you speak of. I can never be less than with people I love more than. Mental blocks still exist....perhaps its reason for over compensation. But to overcompensate with tribal rhythm is a freedom I wish for everyone!! Words impress more than a kiss, and I watched a bronx tale last night. It was a random, but now I know why it was not a random. Quantum realms offer clues why our nose itches when we are thought of or talked about. But, it does not always have to be a itchy nose. It could be something much deeper, and it usually is with this crowd. Most everyone wants to be cool once in their life. It's a bit ironic to find that coolness in the heat of the music, and the vibration of bodies dancing to the sweet sounds we all love. Warmest regards, and smiles for miles and miles!!!2 points

Rained right up til about 30 before show time, cleared and was once again, just exactly perfect. Maybe few degrees cooler. Seemed a good bit more peeps for Sat nite. I loved the construction of this set list. First set HSF then cowboy'd up from opening notes of a blazing Cumberland. Second set just an absolute beast. Good Lord from the jack opener, to an awesome funky expressway, scarlet fire, and from space forward it was an endurance test. Stellar performance by the band, matched a dance party that could've lit a small City with it's energy generation. Time with great friends makes me wish this never ended, but makes next time that much sweeter. You'd worked you way up to it, so weren't all that surprised. We needed to be reeled in a bit.2 points

First the koa, now super 8? Csnt take you anywhere T. Hopefully Rude came to the rescue and talked the boys in blue down. He is level headed, and a prize speaker for these types of issues. Proactive even. Like changing lanes in toll lines because of 1 more car ahead then in the other line:)!!! Blissfull blast it seems you all recieved. Gator, Stephen, viola? Really, that trio is worth the drive across the nation, from new Orleans to Detroit city, music everywhere. Perhaps Norfolk, VA to LA. Either way, east to west, north to south, i am happy yall got some goods!! PG, you certainly have a tribe to remeber and to rejoice. Most certainly special people. People your proud of to call friends!!! You too....pocahontas!!!1 point

And the elders ask, when did you stop dancing? As a person? As a people? That is why you are sad. No time to hate.... poor souls. Why care about cool? That is one measuring stick I fail to meet. And the invitations? Watch out for vampires. They just want your joy, but for what cost? . Not a soul union- a meeting of souls- intermingling of kundalini- the essence of you and that one swirled together. To touch and feel the light of a thousand sunshines condensed into that wonderful being of you made more of interatomical space than not. I recommend getting a vintage car with manual locks and see if the lucky gal unlocks for you on your side after you let her in. Like a vintage MG. 🎼”Let me roll it to you... like a wheel....” Wish you had been at Blk Mtn! Good vibes bursting into dance always welcome. There are never too many stars in the heavens.1 point

That new PA at pisgah is fantastic. Last year they turned a speaker for the dancers at the left but this year that new PA spread phenomenal sound everywhere.1 point

Also - my apologies for prompting an unnecessary visit from local law enforcement. I apparently I did not have the proper permits for an outdoor after-hours open-mic performance. Shit. All’s well that ends well !1 point

There was a Little Red Rooster tucked in there... first set...after H>S>F? I set a personal record last night. Three seperate strangers came up to me while I was dancing and brought me a cup of water. None of them were dosed either... (the drinks, not the strangers) Thanks, helpfull people.1 point

Well well well. A night that begins with HSF is full of promise and tonight was not a disappointment. The bass was rumbling and all the heart cylinders pumping. The band went ahead and slid on into a SLINKY Red Rooster like an alligator sliding down the river embankment. Slide guitar had just that twang and groove - and Barraco finish it up with the Brent response. Sweet broken arrow... shot and miss ...such humanity and plainly frank. A nice cool breeze in the set. Cumberland kicked it and the ride began. Passenger let me release my inner tap dancer with a great piano solo, and Expressway rocked in out. I could’ve been happy there. Then a cowboy twofer kept the crowd hopping. But we are in song deep and ending with cowboy songs a weird option. Rubin and Cerise was a dream closer. Loveliness. I almost don’t know how to express my joy sometimes but it comes through in the dance. I love my tribe. :)) You make me so very happy. I’m so glad you came into my life. Fun second course! And I am so glad Alligator came out to play!! He was in solitary last night under the plastic on stage. Nobody took him home Friday to cuddle and he was out on the town tonight! Viola was funky as hell and got super fast just like we like it and ended in a completely new and original way, ha!!. And.... guys Baby Blue... 💕♥️⚡️💙 Thanks band! Always a treat. Thanks crew! ....What about Kenny? This ain’t a South Park episode. I saw his cute lady. Hear all is better. Thanks for finishing up tour here- 💯🤙🏼.1 point

Couldn’t agree more. DSO played sing me back home in Dewey last year(?) it was right after Merle had passed. I was up front, it brought me to tears, thinking about my mother who had recently had a stroke that rendered her alive but speechless. I could see that the band was effected by that song also. If I ‘m not mistaken, Lisa missed some lyrics, being caught up in the power of the song. As far as the dancing goes, yea, dance your face off. I certainly don’t dance as to be judged by others. You might not like me, but you’ll never forget me. Yea, the bottle and Cork is vastly improved with the changes made to the back area. I still struggled with finding that sweet spot where you’re at a show with the band, far enough back to be able to flail about wildly ,yet, not be in a bar full of neon. I feel very fortunate to have caught the Dark Star shows that I did this year. I blew off New Years cuz it was nine fucking degrees out, got blessed with a nice handful of shows that really demonstrated the talents and abilities of every one in the band, onstage or backstage, individually and as a whole. I saw Baltimore, Jerry band show, seventies in Wilmington, Atlantic City was awesome, and first night Dewey was scrumptious. What a nice mix of shows. It’s part of who I am and I am greatly appreciative. Thank you, Dark Star Orchestra, on stage and back stage.1 point

It’s time to ban phones at Dso shows so our brethren can dance like no one is recording!!!! It’s pretty tacky to record people letting loose. You see it a lot at non dead type shows but it’s rare at a dead show. Most should be getting down themselves and should try to outdo the dancer they want to record vs recording them and posting online. I may make a comment how it’s rude to record other people and put it online even though I’m no longer on social media and my only access is through the gf’s accounts and shed prob be even less pleased to know her name was associated with one of my legendary, sometimes brilliant, sometimes annoying rants. Chuck can attest to the annoying ones. I would never make those comments(besides the sugar in my coffee) because I will already know the answer to those questions 2 weeks beforehand. As Gr8tfulpair will attest he can just sit back and enjoy as I already have the itinerary set months in advance and know the distances b/t hotels and all associated details. My real life may be a mess but on tour I’m structured and on a schedule. My west coast trip planning was perfection down to where in Yosemite we wanted to camp to get back to the bay the quickest(crane flats of course). I’m like a cray supercomputer when it comes to trip planning. Within 5 minutes of seeing a schedule I know how it’s gonna play out. I can’t remember a setlist or people’s names until I meet them 10x but distances, dates and time analysis are spot on.1 point
