Haven’t seen yet but been hearing very positive reports. meanwhile I caught a couple more Garcia Project shows last week and I thoroughly dig how they tend to Jerry Band…seems like they’re getting better and better…my fav JGB band out there at this point.

I saw DSO play 8-12:15 at Busters in Lexington with no one there. Parking lot was an ice rink. 74 show I think. Never saw Dso play 4:15 since.

Hey guys, I have seen The Garcia Project, I have even been in touch with them to try and get better venues for the area I am in. These guys are the DSO of JGB. They sound absolutely phenomenal. Many of yall know I do not know the music in terms so many of you do. My only measure of music is how it makes my body dance and the energy that runs through it. These guys are the real deal and no joke. They may not look it, but did GD every look it? Ron Jeremy Playing Drums, Daisy Duke playing rythm, so classical musicist, throwing love bombs that are still bouncing off the ocean floor. MiK would be worth someone getting to know. I am posting this cause I saw the thread.....and know what I am talking about with these guys. I would go on tour with them. Actually my next post....I may go on tour....I may run away. Although Covington is 15 min from my house, I'll be doing the St Louis drive on the 17th. Damn shame as all of my friends will be here; however, I'll have more chances for Hyryder than Dark Star as the summer unfolds. Start a new job on 4/14 which could be trouble for my Milwaukee and Shipshewana tickets 🤞 hopefully not! They gave me front row center for Milwaukee 🤞🙏⚡🎶🛞🇱🇷

Regarding Hyryder vs DSO on 5/17… Living here, in Newburgh, IN I am almost exactly half way between Covington and St Lou. Suffice to say I won’t be going upriver on the Ohio. Hyryder is my #2 though and based on last 3 years will see more of their shows than DSO in 2025.

Agree there were several scattered longer DSO shows throughout the 26 years I’ve been lucky enough to be a participant.

I loved the crap out of Steely Dead a couple weeks ago. Played a bunch of Dan material that was super fun to dance to. anyone else seen these guys?

Wish I could join in on these upcoming trap shows next weekend; however, Emmylou committed 4/3 Indy, 4/4 Chicago and 4/5 Milwaukee with nothing else scheduled except two with Graham Nash in July in MA. Gotta do these ELH shows as I have a thoughtful birthday present I want to give her. Have a swirl for me DD and all other FF. Hyryder also scheduled Covington on May 17 ~ same night as St Louis. There's battle lines being drawn

Dark Star used to play longer fillers. I remember one Electic factory show went until ten after two in the morning. Might have been their first show there. Not sure.

I was also there, neat show. Hyryder in Indy April 4 and 5, should be rocking.

I have zero hard evidence, but I “feel” like several of my early GD shows in 77 and 78 were slightly longer than the almost every night solid 3.5 to 4 hrs (depending when they hit the stage) you get with DSO. Of course there’s the GD shakedown which must be considered part of the show. The one part of the GD experience which for better or worse is not recreated at almost all DSO soirées.

I thought this show was pretty fantastic. I talked a bunch of shit about how I didn’t like the Count Basie and then I ate my shoe. I go to a decent amount of Dead related music- play some myself- but nothing touches DSO. It’s like coming home.

My one Radio City show, they played from 7:00 to 12:30 in the morning, obviously including set breaks.

Just off the top of my head, without any data bases, I'm thinking Winterland 12/31/78 and all the Warfield, Sanger Theater and Radio City Music Hall 1980 shows? Possibly 7/13/84? 12/31/84 is a monster along with 9/15/85 I know Dark Star's 4/8/89 recreation at last year's first night of Jubilee was longer than the Grateful Dead's show in Cincinnati.

The show was as long or longer than most GD shows ever played with the exception of 72-73

Party pooper here. I always love it when Help Slip drops into Franklin's Tower. With what musicians are doing with the original material, I get worried that that the wish for the four winds to blow me safely home may not be delivered after getting slipknotted ~ similar to the worry that a Fire is not going to be on the Mountain after hearing that the sky was yellow and the sun was blue. There's other complications that concern me during the celebrations at a dead show, but enough for now. ⚡🎶🛞🇱🇷
